Light on Speedo Arrow not working!

Some times it works but it's really rare. Can I fix by myself without sending to a mechanic?
Morning,

I’ve taken the cluster apart a few times now for various repairs but not actually noticed if the LED bulbs are removable. That may well be soldered in, just cannot remember.

To take the clusters part is simple enough but not sure if you can repair/replace these bulbs from the rear. If the front needles and dual faces need to be removed then this will become quite tricky and wouldn’t let a mechanic get involved. You’ll need a very good auto electrical engineer who is familiar with the A2 instrument cluster and also has VCDS to calibrate the needles upon assembly.

I’m sure someone will be along soon enough to provide a better answer but for now, regardless of location (as world wide shipping services are quite reliable) I would start a conversation with Tom @timmus as he is an absolute wizard at these type of tasks. I’m certain that he will see you through this process. Drop him a PM.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi folks,

I’ve seen this fault a few times before.

All the LEDs are soldered onto the cluster motherboard. I have plenty of spares and can repair this if you so desire.

Cheers,

Tom

Is it easy to remove the custer motherboard?

I find it easy because I’ve done it hundreds of times, but I cannot presume to know how easy someone else will find it when I have no insight into their skill set.
Have you got VCDS, as this is required to complete the rebuild process?

Cheers,

Tom
