Locked out

Hi team A2,

I appear to be locked out of my A2! Neither of my key fobs seem to unlock the car. Using either of the keys in the driver's door only makes the car try to lock itself.

I took my other car to work today - so will have to investigate further this evening. Given that the key doesn't seem to override the central locking - could this be a central convenience failure of some kind? Any ideas how I get into the car to perform a diagnostics (a brick perhaps)?

Ben.

Ben, I've had a similar problem on 3 occassion over the last 2 years. But have always been able to open using the key in the drivers door. I've assumed there must be a strong local signal that interferes with the fob... Was a bit worrying when it happened though! The fact that you got it in and the fob deactivated the immobiler would suggest the battery is ok??

if the central convience unit or the battery are at faults using the key should unlock the drivers door mechanicaly. By the way dont smash any glass you can get in without any damage to your car;)

I've resynced both keys and all seems well again. I was just being a der in my morning rush thinking that I couldn't open the door...

Ben

Good to hear that all is well again Ben, but it's an odd one that both keys lost sync at the same time - possible indication of a large electrical glitch or massive electromagnetic radiation (you are quite near to several military bases!!).

Cheers,

Mike

PS Did you get the email with the logo artwork?

Yeah - an odd one for sure. The fault codes after resyncing the keys was:

01370 - Alarm triggered by Interior Monitoring
35-00 - -
00955 - Key 1
35-10 - - - Intermittent
00956 - Key 2
35-00 - -

I don't recall the alarm triggering (I'm sure I would have heard it). Anyway - all is well for now.

Re: the artwork - I got the award artwork - see the home page & thread:

Thanks.

Ben.

Ben.

Are you sure, I know that I wouldn't hear mine. I know of noisier church mice!

As for the artwork, sorry, I normally have sticky announcements collapsed, so missed its inclusion. Perhaps we could incorporate it into the banner photo at the top of the page.

This would then be ideal for inclusion in other publications, such as the brochure for the Rally Day at Chatsworth.

Cheers,

Mike

Ben mate,

I know its a bit cheeky but how does one re-sync keys? Mine works. My wife's doesn't. Our method is kinda manual, ie, she takes my keys.

Wouldn't be a problem, but she tends to lock me in/out of the house when she does it. :)

I figured it was the battery in hers or something. Can I just replace it, and then somehow copy the code over?

Andy.

Marvellous.

Thanks Mike! :)

Even I can cope with that (if I can just work out how to get out our house before she gets back from work). :)
