Loss of acceleration, turned of ignition and back on again and it clears for a while then happens again.
yellow light came up because i have cleared it can't take photo at moment, looks like wine glass and exclamation mark.

you need to scan the ECU and post the P code

but check the turbo boost pipes and intercooler, also the small bore vacuum pipes

Will check turbo boost pipes, intercooler looks fine can't see any oil leaks.
Don't have vcds to scan ecu.
If I lived near to you Paul I'd be round there in the morning to see you.

Maybe you hit big pithole or get other hit to the car? In my case it was cause of EGR valve drop out.

You just need to put selected part back in place.

You can check it from here:

Have u taken bonnet off and maybe disturbed pipes on passenger side bulkhead? If any of them are unplugged u will loose vacuum/turbo boost. I had a pipe unplugged and car would go into limp mode if u accelerated quickly

I also had a similar thing to what stevec described - my old 1.4 TDI 75 would go into limp mode if I sped up above 80mph. Very annoying! Everything would be fine again after a restart and no dash warning lights ever came on. My mechanic told me he found no less than 3 hoses had become detached somehow. After he reconnected all 3 the problem went away for good. Can't say which hoses though, didn't pay enough attention at the time.

Just to say all OK now, I've read on here check battery, I've been doing a lot of short journeys lately the battery was virtually flat.
Charged overnight and today been out on a 150 mile round trip car performed perfectly.

Been told they need to monitor voltage to pedal and throttle body to identify drop in voltage to pinpoint the fault.
Does this make sense to you guys.

The cause of 'implausible signal' would be either intermittent / noisy power supply to pedal position sensor, faulty (worn out) position sensor, or faulty wiring between position sensor and ECU (also possible ECU at fault but this ought to be rare). Because the fault is intermittent it is tricky to diagnose. They need to 'catch it in the act' to see where the signal gets corrupted.

Don't know why they mention throttle body. My understanding is throttle pedal position sensor feeds into the ECU which then controls throttle body, so from the fault description the problem must be on sensor side.

Does the throttle body not have a potentiometer on it to feed back the actual
Throttle position as against what the throttle pedal /ECU things it as requested. Not 100% sure on the A2 but most cars do

Colin's A2 uses the AMF engine and therefore doesn't have a throttle body - it has the vacuum-actuated anti-shudder valve, but that's it.

Accelerator position in the TDI causes the ECU to inject more fuel, but the air intake always runs wide open.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom
Great to hear from you.

Got the car booked in for Monday.
Will pass on all information received.
I'd read there's no throttle body nows it's confirmed.
Great club and members info always found on A2OC

Drove car to garage to look into problem, no problems at all going there and the fault as not show up on there test drives.
So it's frustrating it seems to have disappeared ?

Sorry to reopen an old thread but did you manage to get this problem sorted? I seem to have the same problem with the same fault code.
