Had a new arrival yesterday.

A 1 owner 53k mile 1.4 A2. Has been in South London all it’s life and now made its way to me to breathe a bit more life back into it.

A typical London car, the bumpers need a respray and so do the alloys, but the it’s been very well maintained mechanically and the interior is excellent.

I’ve started getting a list of jobs together

Interior

Sagging headliner

Cupholder broken

Volico the swing grey areas of wear

Exterior

Passenger sill replacement (crack)

Driver and passenger mirror housing replacement as stiff

Front and back bumper painted

Alloys refurbed

New numberplates

Headlight refurb

Wiper arm refurb

Continental 185/50/16 needed osf

Engine

New alternator? Grumble on pulley

New starter motor - squeal on run on

Timing kit change (no record of ever being changed).

Nothing major, and once done it’s going to be a cracking example with its history and 1 owner.

I’ll also be sending off for the COC certification so that it can be registered ULEZ compliant.

I think I saw that one advertised recently, but not for long. That does look a nice one inside doesn't it. Glad it's going to get the TLC it deserves followed by hopefully a new home within the Club 👍

Have seen you with far worse cars Steve. That list will not take you long to burn through but no doubt you will come across other items as you progress this car. Early car so does it have rear speakers installed as it does not look like it to me and no diversity unit?

Door mirrors can be very successfully returned to folding with several sprays of WD40 ( yes I always preach that WD40 is not a penetrant ) left to soak and gentle manipulation. Have a try of my preferred headlight restore of Mothers Mag and Aluminium polish first before you change them.

Looks like Cirrus cloth in grey YB and Brilliant Blue or possibly Cobalt Blue paint.

It’s cobalt blue so has a nice metallic to it.

It’s not one of my cheaper purchase so it should be a decent car to start with.

It’s all just refreshing it more than a anything else.

I haven’t checked for fear speakers, just a quick look around it this morning.

I can just as easily change the mirror housings, so will just do that :) but will definitely give the mothers mag stuff a go.

It was for sale for a couple of weeks, because the lady advertising it had put the incorrect mileage on the advert 83k rather than the 53k it has. A slip of the finger was to my benefit…ooo eeer Mrs.

Nice car.

I've spotted this around; the Number Plate is distinctive (former Rover owner) and it was always clean when I saw it on the road.

Was worried about it until I'd spotted it here!

Today I collected the freshly painted front bumper from the bodyshop and got it fitted. They’ve done a great job, more expensive than I’d hoped, but it looks factory fresh

Spent 5 hours on her today and apart from the freshly powdercoated alloys to go on Monday she’s finished. Really pleased with the way it’s turned out. Mechanically it’s always been good, but the bodywork has now been revived and it looked after should last another 20 years.
