Low Oil Warning

On my way home from the South West Social the buzz went off and the minimum oil warning was displayed, as I was only 10 minutes from home i steadily drove the last few miles. I topped up the oil to full and we t to park up, the warning buzzer went off again and the low level displayed again. My question is is there a way to reset this or will it eventually go out?

Hi Mka306,
The warning buzzer goes off at the bottom of the level section, so where was your level prior to topping up?
You may have to much in now as a
result or if correct level then sensor may have failed.

Be sure that your dipstick end hasn't also snapped off or you will overfill it. Exactly this has happened with a duff sensor before!

I’ve got the exact same problem at the moment. Low oil warning comes on even with the oil full. A few minutes to a few hours of driving later and it’ll go off again. And repeat. Often.
It’s not the sensor as @depronman whipped the old one out and replaced it with a brand new one which is “Hella” branded, identical to the old one, and 15 miles later the warning was back on.
In my case it appears to be a fracture in the wiring right at the plug end. I’ve got a repair part (new plug with 9” of new wiring) which I’ll fit once my knee allows me to writhe around on the floor.
