Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice.

The electric lumbar support on the drivers side has stopped working. The passenger side however is still fine.

When i adjust it i can not feel the motor vibrate, like i can on the passenger side.
Im not sure if its the motor that has stopped working or if its maybe a fuse?

Is it a big repair job, will the seat need to be reupholstered etc?

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Mark
You need to run some basic checks to ensure there is power to and from the switch in the seat base. Start with the fuse then check continuity of the wiring with a multimeter. If there are no faults with the power supply check the motor by listening (close up) to see if it makes a whirring noise. Don't rely on the vibration as the motor will run much smoother if the operating cable to the lumbar unit is broken. The motor assy and the lumbar unit are close to £200 each so if either of these is at fault its not going to be a cheap repair. It should however be possible to strip down the seat backrest without damage to the upholstery - but great care is needed when dealing with the side airbag.

Cheers Spike
