Lumpy / hesitant starting problem…

Hi folks - got a slight issue; lumpy / hesitant starting… also the fuel pump might have a slight seep (and is missing one out of the 5 bolts!). I’ve read a lot of posts, but can’t seem to establish whether the two could be related. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Sorry! It’s a 2002 1.4 TDi 75 - had it for a fair few months and many problem free miles. Thanks 🙏

Best get a scan but it sounds like the issue I had with one of mine. Cam position sensor, easily changed. But get it scanned first

Do you have to crank a few turns before it fires? Could be the Tdi fuel pump problem if there is a small amount of air being drawn into the system and it takes time for the pump to bring the fuel back up to the top. The seepage around the pump needs to be checked in depth as if there is fuel leaking from the pump it rapidly degrades the coolant pipes beneath (they go sticky - if you run your fingers around there it will coat them in black tacky diesel-scented residue).

Thanks both! I have a sheared bolt on the tandem pump housing. Hoping to remove this eve and see if it can be fixed 🤞
