Travelled in my TDi 90 from north west Manchester to Cambridgeshire today and managed to get 72mpg!

I could have probably squeezed some more out of it, but im happy with even that result.

I never managed to get that high readings in my previous A2's.

60mph most of the way..... Well the speedo reads faster so real reading was about 57mph.

The Aero mods as in the little front plastic parts that attach to the bottom of the front bumper near the tyres.

They are found only on the 1.2 TDi, if i am correct.

Hello.

For reference, can somebody explain to me how members are calculating their best figure mpg? In another post I simply gave the absolute best reading my DIS displayed at a constant speed over a set distance before road works, traffic and higher speeds brought that figure back down. The DIS was reset at the start of that trip.

Is this how manhattan recorded 72mpg? or do regular members only calculate their best mileage via the total amount of fuel used over entire miles covered sum?

When i collected my A2, i reset the mpg readout on the DIS at the start of my journey.

Nearly all of the journey was motorway driving at 60mph.... 170 miles distance point to point with a final reading of 72mpg.

I hope that helps.

P.S
I am not sure if the DIS is 100% acurate.

Yes i think so, the DIS shows the average mpg used at the end of your last trip? ok thanks manhattan. I was only reading the best of the fluctuating mpg displays mid journey - doh !!

But waht you should then do is fill your car back up and then workout how much fuel you've used the miles and then you can see how accurate the dis is ;), i don't have dis so i do mine the old fashioned way and do the maths

The most i have ever got out mine was also 72 mpg's last year no areo mods no 5th gear mod but i was on 16's with 185's, bot got some big trips coming up so will have to see

My trip was Grimsby to potter heigham on norfolk broads there and back twice on one tank of fuel can't remember how much fuel i put in now but it was 590 miles and i had only just gone in to the red (and i've done 60miles in that before)

The areo mods are also found on the FSI as well winglets(front bumper) spoiler rear of sub frame(1.2TDI) and exhaust tunnel cover(1.2TDI)

here's a link to them fitted to a members car

I've gone a little further and fitted the larger boot spoiler from the 1.2TDI/1.6FSI and fitted the larger 5th gear

Cheers Phil
