Mark,s Mega Project

I'll be honest Steve I was thinking the same myself, either way it is what it is for now, if I can get another red one I might just change it back, but I am thinking of making the spoiler silver.

I wouldn't go there either to be honest. That rear panel would work really nicely in black though :) I know it's been done before, and there were two like that on the SW drive-out at the weekend, but people do it because it looks good! No issues colour matching with the red then either.

I think the spoiler is a good shout and maybe just the inner part of that panel immediately around the number plate?

Nothing wrong with trying something though. If you don’t try you don’t know. ?

HI Mark, is the the same colour....if you need to rewind!

Sorry I don't understand your question.
For some reason the post didn't keep the link, I referred to your earlier post that if you do not want to keep the tailgate silver you might look for another one.

In two minds about the silver at the rear I decided to spray the spoiler silver to match, it wasn't to difficult and it turned out better than I thought it would, so I'm keeping the rear as is.

Primer

Paint

Lacquer

And the finished article

And now that my furniture clinic leather restoration kit has arrived I'm off out again to refurb the steering wheel.

Dare to be different Mark, cap doffed to you and your unique A2. I seemed to be in the minority over the rear panel, the flash of silver on the spoiler compliments it well.

Steering wheel is now refurbed and looking almost as good as new, very impressed with furniture clinic leather repair kit (No affiliation), a busy day in the sun.

And I convinced myself I deserve a couple of cold ones at the pub on my way home.

Looking good Mark,

The Furniture Clinic product does work very well. It smartened up my rather worn A1 MFSW to as new looking.

It cures nicely to also be used on the gear knob, gaiter and handbrake lever cover.

At £10 it’s by far the cheapest product I’ve purchased that has given the most satisfying results.

Brilliant result there, your A2 is looking great by the way. Very subtle and individual transformation.

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks you for the kind words Tom, I can only agree what everything you have said, I am very pleased with how my Little A2 is coming along,

Finished the last splash of silver on the front of the car, it is now just needing some of the lacquer peel sorting and the lower black trim painting red and that will be the bodywork complete.

Also used the furniture clinic repair kit on the handbrake so that is looking new again, sorry no pic of that.

Really coming together Mark, very nice. Patience called for to mask the rings I’d wager.
You'd be right, but I didn't mind as any job worth doing is worth doing right.

@Proghound I didn't want to risk causing any damage so I opted for the masking, it worked a treat and I'm more than pleased with the results.

Totally understandable Mark, and it's given you the result you wanted as well as kudos for doing it the hard way :) I look forward to welcoming you and your unique A2 at my house when you come to see @timmus later this month.

Thank you sir, I am very much looking forward to meeting up and getting CC, not long now.
