Marketplace constraints

Hello,

We've introduced some constraints relating to who is able to post classifieds in our Marketplace forums. We've seen an increase in the number of new members joining the club purely to make use of our classified service. Whilst the A2OC welcomes new users - we are here to foster a community of A2 owners, rather than be a free classified service for short-term members looking to save a few pounds.

Any new posts to the Marketplace will now require either a minimum post count or a minimum membership duration. Please read the Marketplace rules if you are interested in posting an advertisement, but do not fulfill this policy.

We hope that you understand this change in our policy.

Thanks.

Good call Ben.

It will be good to encourage people to get more out of the A2oc than a classified servce.

Cheers

Yep, this is a good idea and will ensure that the club has a bit of control over whats posted for sale on here.

Most people would have noticed the increase in members joining for the sole purpose of selling a car within their first (or handful of) posts and the quality of the advert generally wasn't great which sparked frustration amongst a few stalwart members.

Now a user with less than 3 months membership or 30 posts ( I think!) will have to email the moderators to request that an advert is placed on the forum.

Theres no intention to become the 'advert police' here - but in this way, there will be an opportunity to ask a few questions which will go some way to assure that the seller is genuine. This will also ensure that the club members or lurkers dont miss the chance of a really nice A2 which might not otherwise be exposed to the club under the new rule.

It's always comforting when an established member sells their own car and you can search through their forum posts which are a good indication of any faults that have been sorted etc.

You'll note in the marketplace rules that sellers must also be selling a car that belongs to them, so anyone posting a car 'on behalf of a friend' or similar may come under a bit of scrutiny to assure the safety of the club and its members.

Hopefully, this is an improvement that the majority will approve of.
