Miles from a tankful? TDI 75

So how do you work out MPG?

Just done my first refuel since filling up my 75 TDI after purchase, bang on 300 miles on the clock since last fuel up and was amazed to only fit £32.02 in:eek: Used to get 300 miles form a tank in my old Honda Civic, and that was closer to £50 to fill!

Anyway, 300 miles, 24.46 litres(£32.02) to refuel, can anybody convert that to tell me how many MPG I got out of my first tank please?:)

Whatever the case it certainly didn't disappoint, well impressed with that, especially seeing as I have the 17's with low profiles on mine which obviously comes at the expense of some MPG.

I have DIS that displays mine, plus I use an iphone app that I have logged my twice weekly fill up in since purchasing my A2 back in March last year, but to help you work it out in the future I believe the following is correct:

4.54 litres/gallon
=24.46/4.54 = 5.387 gallons
300 / 5.387 = 55.68 mpg

Alternatively a quick search on the net will provide many sights that you can simply enter in miles travelled, litres purchased and cost per litre and then at the push of a button they'll work it all out for you.

Yep, worked it out correctly then as your calcuations come out exactly the same as mine.

What is the app called that you use? Not an iphone user but it may be on android aswell, like the idea of the fuel logging record:)

I use an app called Road Trip as this also allows me to add in services and expenses (in fact I add everything include insurance to mine so that I can see how much overall per year/month/week or day the car is costing me) and A2Sumo uses one called AccuFuel.

I recently downloaded a free Android app called "MPG Calculator" which does exactly what it says on the tin. At each fill-up you enter your mileage, litres pumped, plus the cost per lite of the fuel. It then automatically calculates and logs your total average MPG and total fuel quantity burned, daily, weekly monthly and annual average mileage, plus your daily/ weekly/ monthly/ annual fuel costs. It also produces some cute little graphs.
