Miles till next service!!

Hi Folks
Hoping that you can assist me?
I bought a 2000 A2 with 20000 Miles on the clock, the next service that was displayed on the dash was 7300 Miles,so no problems there. However,2 days ago,the Miles to next service has increased to 11800 Miles.
Is this a normal display or am I stressing about something I shouldnt? Im just afraid that there may be a bigger problem!!
The car however is running normally!

Thank you so much!!

Simple answer: Yes it is normal.
After Longlife service it always shows 15000km (or whatever milage) and will rise then.

And only updates every 500km so wait a while and have a look in one year again.
And it is not only depending on milage but also on how you drive and the time. After two years it shows zero.

Well, immediately after my last long-life service it showed 50000 km.
It then dropped and now, after being driven 17000 km it says 24000 km to next service.

Maybe this depends on the model year. It is 15000km for some A2's

But maybe it also depends on the method how it had been reset. You can also reset it yourself by the buttons (as described in the manual, but as far as I know, this is only for the small interval so service every year and every 15000km)

And it is not 50000km for all models! Newer models only have 30000km till next longlifeinspection.

Mine went 9300 miles to 7500 miles within a week or so and really annoyed me. It has since gone to 7800 miles. I am just waiting and praying it goes about 10,000 in the near future.

do they ever set it correctly ?

I have my 4 yr service done last september (at 5 yrs !!) full cam belt / new pads / discs / long life oil service the whole shabang, picked it up and she runs like a dream, never looked at the service indicator on collection:eek:
checked it at the weekend whilst doing some odds and ends and  OMG 2,200 miles to next service !!!! only done 1,000 since september
The service was done by a local family owned Skoda dealership, phoned them up, he checked his computer and confirmed long life service was performed and correct oils used and asked me to pop it back, this I duly did and now reading 9,300 <standard>
Why oh Why do they never seem to set it correctly - I recall after my 1st Service done by Preston Dowdy I had to return it  over 30 mile round trip just so they could get it right !!!!!

It is possible that they did not set it correctly. We had this once in the german forum. Then ignore it or set it back yourself.

cheeky reset of VSi

Mmmmm Chris looks like I might have got a cheeky free 6 months / 1,000 miles :D
generally get it done every 2 years whether it wants it or not !!!!
I do know she is very low miles, Mike commented on it when he worked on her <just moved from it to her > 1st registered Sept 02 52 plate 03 MY with 10,523 on the clock - genuine
maybe we should start a table for the lowest mileage cars ;)
when my 2 yrs are up I may revisit VSi or Fixed then - but until then ......
