Milltek exhaust - Anybody’s got experience?

Hello, I am new here to this nice forum. I am also a member of the large Audi A2-friends forum in Germany where I come from.

Well, I consider upgrading to a good stainless aftermarket exhaust silencer. I may purchase the Milltek Sport Exhaust because it features the regular down-bent pipe end preventing a permanent black sooty car’s rear.

The Milltek workmanship seems to be top notch, but what about the sound of this particular exhaust?

That’s my primary concern. Is there a significant sound improvement to the OEM stock exhaust?

So are here guys/gals driving an A2 1.4 TDI combined with the Milltek system over there in UK? What are your experiences so far also in terms of power enhancement? And would it be possible to make some video sound files (statically and by driving past)? That would make decision finding much easier.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Some pics of my A2 can be seen here:

P.P.S. key words: miltek , milltec , miltec

Hi Spike,

thanks for the link. Seems that the Milltek exhaust “noise” is quite conservative in this case. What I really am interested in is a sound sample, because I am not looking for a loud exhaust but a good sounding one. Many Milltek exhaust sounds found on their homepage are really thrilling – I like most of them. Anyway I know that’s both a subjective issue and also hard to achieve for any small Diesel engine…

So keep the sound samples comin’ :)

Best regards

why not get a custom made exhaust to the sound you want it? being if they will make one for a diesel

I've got no experience of a Milltek exhaust on an A2 but I do have one on my other car - 1990 BMW M3 - and its very good, if a little loud. Quality is very good but after almost 2 years the middle silencer has started to rattle a bit, but apparently they will repair or replace bits for free if there is a problem. For my car it cost £450 against well over £1200 for the equivalent BMW one so was cheap too. Oh and it fits perfectly unlike some other pattern exhausts.

Miltek only make a resonated version of the exhaust for the A2, which means no great increase in noise levels, but it will be a little more "fruity" if you know what I mean!

As they are the only decent company to offer a stainless exhaust for the A2, your choice is somewhat limited, unless you are willing to spend a lot more on a custom design.

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks for the input so far folks! :)

Mike, actually there’s a German high quality stainless (custom) exhaust maker who also offers a nice exhaust system for the A2 1.4 petrol, 1.4 Tdi and 1.6 FSI engine. The company’s called BN-Pipes. The looks of their straight duplex exhaust is not bad at all. However from the practicable point of view it is advisable for the petrol engines only (no back door full of soot).

The sound, especially when combined with the 1.6 FSI, is OK IMHO. On the other hand there’s a lack of OOOMPH in sound when using this exhaust with a Diesel. But get yourself a picture and listen to sound samples here:

all 1.6 FSI:

So maybe just for completion one or two A2 Milltek sound samples will show up in future here…
