Mintex brakes and disks

Hi guy's. I have had mintex brakes and pads fitted almost two weeks ago now and the braking still feels a little soft to me. I do take into account the recent remap and the some-timish boy racer mood :D taht the brakes would be a lot better but it isn't.

Should the brakes have been blead when i had these fitted or does that not make a difference? And is there anything i can do without going for bigger brakes and disks?

mine felt a little soft at the begining but it either settled down or I've got used to them. The pads have tapered edge so at least the initial contact area is not 100% the surface arear of the pads. But as you grind it down to the full area, they should feel fine.

Hi Sojah
Its not normal practice to bleed brakes after fitting pads and discs but if they are 'spongy' it may help. Also consider changing the bake fluid if it has not been done in the last 2 years.
Did your Mintex kit include genuine discs as well as pads as many don't. In addition to better grade cast iron with higher friction qualities, better machining tolerances and run-out can all give improved pedal feel.
The genuine Mintex kits are excellent value for money but you may get some improvements with a Brembo Sports brake set or Ferodo DS pads with Brembo Max discs or similar. Unfortunately we don't have any feedback from club members to quantify any performance advantage

Cheers Spike
