Modern replacement single din stereo.

Hello all,

It's rare finding me comment on a single DIN infotainment thread but as far as head units go, I'm all for a factory solution. They just look right by being the full width of the single DIN aperture but agree they lack todays technological functionality; I know this is coming from someone who seeks OEM+ in many ways and changes their steering wheel every couple of months so you should know I really don't mind trying something new and novel if the aesthetics are pleasing...

Although the aforementioned Blaupunkt head unit is period pleasing, I've not seen an aftermarket single DIN solution that doesn't require the additional side trims which to me, ruin the flow of the appearance. It's like going into kitchen showroom and being put off my the misaligned door and drawers on a wall unit/oven housing which gives an unprofessional vibe and cheap look. Hopefully you'll see below but please excuse the 10 trimming of an earlier picture:

Again please excuse the 30 second make over of the above picture:

Whilst I understanding I've not done the Blaupunkt head unit any justice at all in the above picture (not intentional just rushed job) as its blurred and not correctly aligned (like the cheap kitchen showroom), to me it shows that a full width tidy and presentable Chorus or Concert is much better on the eye. There are aftermarket items available to overcome some of the factory technical limitations but I'll let other provide examples of these as I stepped away from the single DIN arena a few years ago now. That said I'm not sure Bovee offer a solution for the single DIN factory head units. The main contenders I recall being Xcarlink and Connects2. Not sure they offer DAB though.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi, @2work I’ve a Bovee 1000 mated to my convert 2 in the 1.2 which I stream over. Naturally that’s not DAB as such but means you can stream it. Works perfectly.

Evening Erling,

That’s awesome Sir. I’ve never considered/thought about adjusting the WMA1000 to integrate into the non-RNS-E head units. Does it also provide track name within DIS.

Kind regards,

Tom
