Modified fuel filter drain plug

Hi, first post here.

I need to change the fuel filter on my 1.4 TDI but I’m apprehensive because I know chances are the plastic drain plug will snap. 😔

I’ve had a look on Google and come across people on other forums who make and sell the modified metal plugs, but these forum threads are 5+ years old and closed.

is there anyone on here who does them?

I can certainly help you out with that request, I manufacture theses from aircraft spec aluminium bar, you will certainly never break one of mine
they are £23 plus £5 postage RM 2nd small parcel signed for
I have stock so can post out as soon as you have paid
I will PM you now

Hi there, just came across same problem then the others, I was gentle with the drain plug, but no chance, plastic bolt snapped into the cap.. Temporarily glued the nut back on top, but when the car is not running, then slightly dripping. I hope this replacement bolt still available as been online few hours ago, but no chance to find any second hand, new, or any replacement plug for this little rocket. Car is 53 plate Audi A2, 1.4 Pd. Attached picture of the plug and cap. @depronman?

Hi,Poul I'm looking same screw for the diesel filter.(Drain plug)If you still have I would like to buy one.Sorry about my English.Im just learning now:)

Why do folk touch the bleed screw (without a Depronman modified wonder) when you could simply unscrew the filter and replace or just to drain it? Some diesel filters of a similar age don't even have a bleed screw (mk2 ford galaxy for example)

I think you have to remove the bleed part to be able to get a socket on the filter cap. You'll see what I mean in the picture..

Looking at the plug you could (and I would) cut flats off it to allow direct socket action ( I love your sock-et action.. need to get out more lol) on to the filter housing

Even before fitting Paul's excellent drain plug I either used a peg spanner on those two webs or a crows foot spanner to undo the filter cover.
