Modify seat, lumbar support

I just bought a A2 with ordinary seats. Both I and my wife are missing some extra support in the lumbar region of the seat. It is too cumbersome to place a pillow each time we drive the car. Do you have any experience on opening the seat back and adding some support inside?

Hi Ole, welcome to the A2oc
I considered adding lumbar support to my standard SE seats once but the parts for ONE seat cost over £350. It appears from the parts book that all the bits could be added without changing the standard backrest but I never checked how easy the conversion would be.

This web site is useful if you want to check out the parts yourself. Registration is required but its free.

The easiest thing to do would be to lookout for a set of sport seats, from either an A2 or TT, as the seats can just be swapped then.

Spike is right - the parts are very expensive and labour will be long and expensive too.

It might be worth trying to find a seat cover that is adjustable in this way. I know that there are ones that offer heating and vibration functions, maybe there is one that has lumbar support too.

Cheers,

Mike
