The good suspension products for Audi A2 seem to be sold out...

I need new dampers in front and after reading on this forum I'd like to get a set of Monroe Reflex dampers (E4998, E1309). Where they are still listed they are sold out.

I can't find them in Monroe's product catalogue..

It is kind of annoying that the shock technology that people on here was raving about 5-10 years ago no longer seem to be available :(

So what's up? Are you all on Bilsteins B4's etc. by now?

I fitted Monroe OE Spectrum this year which supposedly are the replacement to the Reflex
Thanks!! Great tip.
742042SP is the Monroe part no. for the correct OESpectrum damper. (see picture above)

How are you finding your new suspension?

I have an FSI Sport and would like to renew the lot with OEM, except for switching the dampers to OE Spectrum for (in theory) an improved low speed ride. It would be good to get a real world opinion!

The comfiest suspension set up ive known is "SE " OEM coupled with pepper pots shod with 185/60/R15 tyres. The original colour dotted springs are slowly becoming NLA though which is a worry.

I think the shock absorbers are good and result in good ride quality however I am not convinced by the Bilstein B3 springs that I have on the car. I think that the B3 Springs and the Monroes is not as well coupled as I would have hoped, i.e. almost overdamped on softer springs. I have found that the car has a little more roll in corners than I would like. I think that the B3 springs that I have may not be so well suited to my heavier A2 with OSS and the TDI (despite what the spec sheet and demon tweaks said). I am running pepperpots with 185/60R15 tyres.

Of course this is me being picky, and it really isn’t bothering me enough to warrant replacing anything. I have done around 7,000 miles with the above setup. Though my car doen’t feel that different to one that I had as a curtesy car (TDI not OSS) from WOM when they did my timing belt a while back, and that is my only reference for how an A2 TDI feels as all the others I have owned are FSI sports and they were very different feeling which I mostly attributed to the tyre size difference

I think mixing monroes and bilstein may be the problem we have two a2S (actually three ) but one standard factory original springs and shocks 40k the other on bilstein b3 and b4 (shocks and springs) and total refresh ..And ironically same wheels wheel and tyre size combo as yourself .. I much prefer the latter .. I know this has been discussed many times and it’s certainly a personal thing..?

This is all really helpful, thanks! My FSI also has OSS, so to keep the tight handling and reduce crashiness, I’m hoping OEM + Monroes do the trick. In my case, I don’t plan to change the 17” Sport alloys which I’ve recently re-shod with 205/45 Michelin CrossClimate tyres, alas only available in XL-spec. One day we all need to compare our results at a meet!
