Drove to the north downs near J7 on the M25 this morning to walk in the snow.

A very odd bit of snow!

A nice morning and then disaster on the way home! A flat tyre! I usually just call Audi assistance but changed the wheel myself this time. Took it after to the tyre place up the road and the 4000mile old Pirelli is a gonner! Grrr... and no tyres to be found so space saver on for a few days now. Thankfully I train to work now!

In process of changing

Have to say it was rally easy. Apart from getting the bolts off. The jack is a great design and the way it the hole for it is hidden behind the black blanking plate is great.

And NO space in boot for the grubby fullsize tyre!

so glad we never got a flat as when owned the A2, as we never had a spare. Was always a bit worried about having to use the repair kit.

Again, thanks for the snow pics - still nothing here - just dreary

Bad luck
But looks like a beautiful place.
Any idea on tyre cost ?

I got the last pair from mytyres thanks. But this guy is just up the road and he fitted them for me last time. So I told him today what I paid and said he should match that. So I will see Monday.

I'm curious to know......when your tyres are changed at the garage does the mechanic know that the jack point under the sill is covered by a plastic strip.......or does he just find another point on the suspension arm?

2004 1.4 TDi (90) SE, Cobalt Blue, Climate control, Cruise control, DIS, Sport seats, Winter pack, Symphony II.

He just finds another point... a normal jack (in a workshop) does not have the same rounded spigot (for lack of a better word!) as the Audi jack in the boot... so they just use the undercarriage somewhere...

£110 fitted from the guy down the road... grrr... but did not have to go and collect the mytyre package from the end of the world as there is no-one at home to accept... so the price I pay for the convenience.

I bought a pair of Kumho tyres from my local garage - £57 ish each. Seem to have perfectly acceptable performance....

Oh this guy had lost of funny things as well but those four tiny patches on the road is all that is between me and a grass verge... I only ever fit big names brands regardless of price. Hence the car now having 4 Pirellis all round...

Take a look at the Kumho website - they supply the tyres for F3 in Europe and plan to have a F1 tyre by 2007.... Oh, and used as original fitment on VW Polo's. Very funny!
