Moving on

Hopefully someone will want to own a 10-year old i3, otherwise the CO2 emissions from manufacturing EV's will be horrendous!

Taking responsibility for the future.

The principle of sustainability is the focus of the way in which not only the BMW Leipzig plant but also the whole BMW Group works. We regard it as our objective and duty to take responsibility as far as economic, ecological and social factors are concerned and to act with foresight.

The BMW Leipzig Plant is one of the world`s most sustainable car manufacturing plants and sets a benchmark for the stewardship of precious resources like water, energy and raw material. Green energy for the production of electric cars is provided by four purpose-built wind turbines on site.

The flexible plant structure is important for the future development. Plant expansions and structural readjustments can be implemented anytime with only reasonable effort.

The BMW Leipzig Plant is also a reliable employer for thousands of employees and a good neighbor. Young people receive vocational orientation with internships and apprenticeships

Looking at what my PV panels generate on dull days during the winter, your arrival at work etc, will be weather dependent! Not to mention more expensive batteries to replace!

Technology is moving fast! And there will be a continuous supply of used recycled higher power EV batteries to replace faulty ones in your home powerwall.

Yes, since your figures are for a PCP the depreciation is not relevant because in both cases you can just hand them back.

The depreciation will be paid by somebody Steve, in this case largely by BMW in desperation for economies of scale!

I do entitle everyone to their opinion.
My thought about sustainability in the future is that we all are driving it. For instance, right now we don't have enough green power to charge every single persons car, if they were an EV. But as you buy an EV or get your electricity from renewable sources you are also showing companies that this is what we want. Sure, there will be emissions just building a solar panel or wind turbine, but at the same time you put more money into green things. We as consumers are pushing the companies to drive the development forward. More money, better and quicker development.
