Multiple dash warning lights

Heading home from Suffolk to London today and as I pulled out of a backroad junction, got three loud beeps and a jackpot of dash lights. Car didn’t feel or drive any differently, so I stopped a few miles later, switched the car on and off which only left the EML lit up.

Need to scan it with VCDS but luckily had a cheap code scanner/clearer and erased the code en route. Didn’t return after finishing my 100 mile journey.

My guess is faulty ABS sensor so will be interesting to see what the proper scan brings up. Are they fairly easy to replace?

Happend to me once, lit up like Christmas with ABS fail. Cleared the codes and been fine since. This time of year this sort of thing seems more likely. I would monitor for now. If you should need to change a sensor, the biggest problem will be getting the nut out that holds them in place, it will be very corroded!

Good advice after clearing the codes, 70 miles and no other incident. I’ll leave it and monitor for now. Many thanks.

What was the code you cleared? As the scan is, (probably), not vag specific, it's likely that it didn't pick up all the fault codes, particularly the vag specific ones. Get the vcds scan done sooner rather than later. That dash does not look like a single fault code situation.
Mac.

01314 in the ABS section of the scanner tool. As I say, no issues with the car and after clearing nothing came back, so my guess is something (eg wheel ABS sensor) tripped its brain and threw the lights up. I’ll give it a full VCDS scan this week and see if there’s any other info.

Handbrake and headlights icons showing up on the dash were me not the car btw 😄

My first instinctive thought was battery voltage, but seems okay.
The issue I saw and Im just speaking from experience rather than any technical qualification was it had an inadequate although good battery. It had been in a Polo 1.4 but was physically 2/3 of the A2 1.4 battery which replaced it . I think the A2 needs a bigger battery than other 1.4 VAG cars . Maybe the load of PS , and other electrics ? A lot of Christmas tree situations seem to be battery or earth related imo. Glad your A2 seems to be OK after clearing the codes .

Thanks again. I’ll check the age of the battery and if its the correct one for my car next time I’m in the garage.

Hi Modecorp ... yes, they are easy to replace and the sensors are relatively inexpensive, they're common to many vehicles across the VAG range (same parts on my Skoda Citigo!)
Give each bolt a spray with penatrating oil over a couple of days and hopefully they come out okay.
All the best ... Tom
