My A2’s journey

Some of you may remember back in March I bought a BOSE setup for my car and since then it has sat on one of the sofa’s in the conservatory along with a few other A2 parts waiting for when i was ready to have it fitted. Some months ago I arranged a date for the BOSE setup to coincide with my yearly service and a few other changes to the car with Tony at A2Cars.

In the meantime Mike (A2Sumo) and I set about collecting additional parts that i wanted to change at the same time.
So the car was duly dispatched on the agreed date packed full of:

  • Bose amp and speakers plus almost all the cabling
  • Replacement glovebox as mine had come apart at one end.
  • Microswitch 3D printed part for the glovebox light - expertly printed and sent out by Depronman - thanks Paul
  • New Foam insert for the drivers footwell to re-site the tools from the boot.
  • Front door cards as the drivers door card on mine had a burn mark on it from the previous owner. I had replacement rear cards as well, but decided that the ones in my car where just as good as the replacements
  • Tray for under the handbrake
  • Passenger rear light as mine has always had a small crack in it.
  • New door switches with chrome tips and a new chromed switch for adjusting the door mirrors so that they match the RNSE Mk2 switches

In addition to the above the alternator was making a bit of a noise (both Mike and Robin had told me they thought it was most likely the noise was coming from here) so I asked for that to be investigated and also for the air-con to be re-gassed as it had stopped blowing cold air.

So this weekend we collected my car with it’s replacement glovebox with working light, replacement door switches , the drivers door card minus the burn mark; following some phone calls it was decided not to use the passenger one as the one in my car was actually in better condition, although in need of a good clean. A new (exchange unit) alternator and tensioner belt fitted; again calls were received and it was agreed that I wanted this part changed. A yearly service and inspection was also completed, the handbrake tray fitted, the rear light changed, the air conditioning unit fully tested and re-charged and most importantly the BOSE setup installed.

The car is now so much quieter with the noise from the alternator gone, lovely and cool with the air-con on and super sounds through the BOSE system.

Travelling to the offices in Peterborough or Frimley now is going to be oh so much nicer.

Now to think about the next lot of changes :) Probably some new wheels next year and maybe bluetooth. I’m tempted with a multi-function steering wheel, but at the same time love my re-trimmed leather and Alcantara steering wheel.

Look forward to hearing the Bose @ AITP Vonnie and seeing the other additions fitted.

Good to see the modding bug still has a hold. I love the QT alloys on your stunning A2, so sourcing better replacements will be an interesting challenge IMHO.

Thinking about my next move too; suspension or alloys... Or bank the money and be satisfied with what I have...

Banking the money is extremely sensible !!!!!

So get stuck into some more mods and have fun!
