My experience with service and repair recently...

Government mots always seem to be genuine but full price, good for those folk struggling with a genuine garage as although the MoT should always be fair we all know that sometimes profit can swing a result. Councils etc even the Ambulance service can do private mot's, downside can be thou that they dont do repairs

I’m pretty excited to get these fitted

I was amazed when I first moved to England back in the 80's ... I wasn't aware that you could take your car to a garage and and get an MOT test and repairs done at the same time ... an alien concept for me and my new workmates were able to guide me to where the 'best' place was for a pass ... not a criticism of the system but there were definitely some dodgy cars on the roads ??? !!
Back home now in Northern Ireland and some of you will be aware that you can only book an appointment with a government test centre ... it runs like a production line, there are ten lanes in the one I go to and you have a fifteen minute window ... I prefer this system, very thorough, no hanging about and there doesn't appear to be any way to abuse the system ...

Thought I'd post a quick update to give some closure to this thread.
I got my A2 back just before Christmas, the suspension parts, rear axle and rear brakes are all replaced and it's joy to drive.
Gary was an absolute star, communicating regularly and keeping me informed on parts etc as well as putting in a lot of work to find the rear axle bolts which are getting rare I gather.
So what was a pretty grim story to start ended up well and for less than a third of the cost I was quoted initially.
Once I can get outside and the light is better I'll post some picks of the new suspension setup.
