Had 5 TTs in all (mk2 197, tts and rs plus mk3 TTS and rs), 8p A3, VW Bora, mk1 Golf, Volvo 440, 2 diesel 205s, DTurbo 306 and a Vauxhall Cavalier (oh dear).

Best - have to say its the mk3 RS, worst was definitely the Volvo 440 - what a pile of junk that was...
 
Audi 80, Audi90, Audi80 Quattro, Coupe Quattro turbo (very nice), Audi 100 Avant TDI 2.5 (what an heap), Audi 100 2.2 petrol (nice barge), 911T (the beat that was out to kill you in the rain), VW Derby (cheapest car I ever bought, wiffy loved it) Beetle 1.3, Beetle 1.6S (both wiffies cars)
I've likely missed the odd one owe and four A2's :)
 
Coupe Quattro had the 5 pot turbo heritage I love - 2.2 litre 5 pot turning out 200hp - beast for the time.

Worth a packet these days as well :)
 
Coupe Quattro I had was a 2.2 Kjet-tronic turbo 5 pot
The Audi 80 Quatrro was basically the same car but with a boot and no turbo

Both so sure footed, especially after my 911T which had tried its best ti kill me over 3 winters and just had to go before it finally succeeded, there are only so many time you can end up going backwards at 70 mph and not hit anything. In the dry it SOOOOOOO much fun to drive, but in the wet - well that was a completely different story, turbos in those days come on song in a rather abrupt way which was more than enough to break the back end of a 911T away from the tarmac :)
 
Audi Coupe 2.2 Injection (5 pot, all leather interior) loved that car, A4 tdi (90), A4 tdi (110), 4tdi (130) best of the A4s indicated 60mpg regularly. A4 Cabrio (2.5 tdi v6 Autotronic) best ever in the summer never had a problem with the gearbox despite reputation. Wife’s cars; Golf GTI Cabrio (great fun until it was stolen b’tards) Golf mk4 (1. 9tdi Auto), Golf mk6 (1.6 tdi semi auto “dieselgate victim) faster, smoother and more economic than the 1.9tdi.
Now the A2 (tdi 75) not really that much of a comedown! I really need to get those leather seats!?
 
I also had a helios blue mk1 golf gti campaign. Apologies for poor picture quality, took pic of photo. When i purchased it the car had a full bbs bodykit on it and zender rear spoiler. Luckily it wasn't bonded to car, so within a month i had it looking all original. Except for compulsive grill spoiler and rear spoiler.
I know its been a while but do you have any more pics of this car?

You bought my old car?? Did you break car to use the shell after? Only pics i have are on non digital format. Will have to convert them.

No, I bought it off a lad in wales, he had rolled his silver campaign so transplanted the parts from the silver one to this shell. Its in a tatty state now but I plan to get it back on the road later this year
 
The car originally had a full zender/bbs? Body kit on it when i purchased it. Very 80's, i put it all back original but left the boot spoiler on. Glad it's still alive and hopefully back on road in future. I too am trying to restore a 1990 golf gti 3 door.

Historically, I seem to have followed my parent's theme of owning British cars, then drifted into larger VAG.
Sharan 2.0S was our first, great car, did everything, so flexible. Scrapped it an only 90k because all the paint fell off and it had suffered a side swipe and a shunt.
Everything still worked.
Then came the Allroad...Nogaro blue 2.5 Tdi 180 manual with low range, bought at three years old and embarrasingly low mileage, sold it to my Dad when I knew that kids and dogs would just ruin it and it started getting expensive to put right.
Dad sold it at 160k on the original clutch.
I then got into Transporter T3's in a big way (disease)
Ran a South African 2.6i 5-pot Microbus as a daily for about 8 years, torquey beast with a LSD transaxle and made such a great sound north of 4k, drove the family 5-up to Austria in it, succumbed to rust in the end so I broke it and came out quids in :)
The 4wd syncro bus is one of the rare ones, a rhd twin slider getting upgraded to full Oettinger 3.2 flat 6 spec, should be about 180 bhp when I get the engine finished.
The resto has been a nightmare

I've just bought a tidy "old" 1999 A4 avant (pre-facelift) after a tipoff from an old acquaintance.
1.8 20v, 76k, manual with recent mot for £300
Silver with blue cloth, climate, towbar, projector lamps and fogs but no roofbars ?and "keep fit' windows in the back!
The ideal daily workhorse.

I think that is a face lift model, we had a 1998 TDI Avant in Silver bought new, different head lights, door handles, side rubbing strips and bumper. The roof bars were a factory option that we specified along climate. Managed 275K miles; sold it on as a tidy good runner.
 
Ok, I wasnt sure tbh as it has things like the third stalk for headlights, which Audi dropped not long after then in favour of the VAG rotary switch.
Its a lot of car for the money, useful in ofsetting the A2 moneypit ?
