Also just to add the car passed its MOT 2 weeks ago and apparently to the buyer the headlight aim is way off !!!!

This surely would of been Mentioned in the MOT !!!!

My Nanny State comments were aimed at the fact the original post was removed by admins (and could have possibly been seen as supporting Louis rather than Hesketh), not at the person who posted it...…………….

I understand that, still unjustified though.

Louis I was surprised that Ruby passed the MOT with the state of the headlights from the picture you posted...……..then you posted that you had refurbed the headlights after the MOT ……………….do you not think that the work you did may have put the aim out?...…. Do not blame the MOT tester I think you were lucky to get an MOT...…..
As I said when you posted about buying and selling A2's you were facing a minefield...………….well this is it, take this on the chin put things right and learn a little life lesson.
Happy Christmas

I will add my tuppence worth Louis is a young lad dabbling I think we can say with all good intentions..he’s learnt a hard lesson I’m sure he upset with all this attention...and will bare it in mind in the future so perhaps its time to give the lad a break and end all this and leave him to sort out with the disgruntled buyer by the sounds of it he didn’t even walk round the car and no test drive ..enough said , £700 is not a lot of money these days and I would expect work for sure ..the car trade is a mine field for buyers and sellers alike ..we do need a market place and I’m sure 99% of our members on here are not after making a fast buck but give honest descriptions and favourable prices ...lets not spoil what is a great forum ..happy Xmas and new year to one and all ..

Hi Louis,

First off, I think it would be wrong to close this thread. It has many views, and some good and honest advice.
Closing a thread because of negative feedback or challenging posts is really not the answer.
You are trying to run a small venture, and would do better in letting any issues surface and deal with them in a professional and appropriate manner, however I don't think you need to respond to every post.

Bullying will never be tollerated on the A2OC but you do need a reasonably thick skin to sell services on an owners club, so the way you conduct yourself in the testing times will show what sort of business person you are.
Remember - word of mouth is more powerful than any advert or series of photos.

A peice of advice from a very old fool......learn humility and polish the customer-service skills.
Never advertise anything incorrectly, even with good intention as it appears you had.. It WILL come back and bite you!
Your customer has notified you of a complaint, you ought to deal with this to their satisfaction and not assume you are right.

NEVER think Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware) or you will go down the dark rabbit hole of being thought of as one of those unscrupulous car traders who's only interested in taking a punters cash and profiteering.

Of course you should not have to make your dealings public, but the matter should be fully resolved to all parties satisfaction.
I would then expect your customer to comment further advising all matters have been resolved fully when they are satisfied
This will gain you credibility as an honest entrepreneur

Good luck in sorting out this issue and in all you do.

Cheers
Jeff

Louis wanted to ship the car to me – unseen – no problems, Was I supposed to drive an untaxed uninsured car around an estate I didn't know in the dark and the rain. I'd have liked to look at the service history but again – outside in the rain ... I don't think the paper would have stood up to it. Any way I would like to give my side of the venture. Before people start calling me a mupett because I trusted someone.

Valid point gratefully recieved

Just want to say I think you guys do an excellent job and I am no way critical of the work that is put in. Thank you for making this forum so excellent.

I don’t think anyone is calling anyone a muppet or blaming anyone. Let’s just keep this friendly.

A seller and a buyer should have this chat somewhere other than a public forum.

If you feel the car was missold or misadvertised you have your rights and the seller has his. Please sort it out together. If you feel that you can’t resolve this issue between the two of you then maybe involve the group and state your case.

The marketplace is a source of great help to many but there are some risks. The club condones the marketplace but can’t really regulate private sales - eBay can but the prices are a lot higher (and I’m not sure if they actually do regulate much).

My point wasn’t to suggest you were a muppet. I was looking to point out the relative cost and the expectations. I bought my A2 on 160,000 miles four or so years ago for £4,500 and have spent £1,500 in the last year replacing all the front suspension, exhaust flexi, alternator blah blah. For £700 I would expect a rolling shell with a ding in every panel and some pretty serious bills coming - just my personal view on the relative cost of the car.

Please have this conversation in a private chat instead of having what is essentially an argument in a public place.

Please.
