MYTYRES.Co.Uk are BAD! BAD! BAD! TAKE CARE: DO NOT USE MYTYRES: CAUTION!

I had an issue with mytyres.co.uk (previously reported on audi-sport.net and the RS3OC forum) that while it's now sorted and payment refunded to my bank account needs highlighting to make others aware.

While this has been an entertaining exercise for me as I have both the time and opportunity; I'd strongly advise anyone and everyone NOT to purchase from mytyres.co.uk.

Mytyres.co.uk is listed as: Delticom Tyres Ltd., 6 Langdale Court, Market Square, Witney, Oxfordshire, OX28 6FG: but my sources claim that's just a post box at chartered accountants and they don't fit tyres...

But communications suggest them to be more like: Delticom AG, Brühlstr. 11, 30169, Hannover, Germany

So be very, very careful; "please excuse us for our incompetence" came from them...

I've been dealing with 2-people @ mytyres.co.uk/[email protected].: a Miss. Vasilica Pascutoi and Mr. Robert Bodo; neither of which would I trust beyond "hello, good morning"; but here's the issue from start to finish:

• 17th January: I ordered 4xwinter tyres for our Suzy A2 and the order was readily acknowledged

• 19th January I telephoned to ask of shipment details as these usually come through very quickly but none could be found. Mytyres would investigate and send me information: they didn't.

• 20th January (am) I telephoned again to ask of shipment details; none could be found, but they would investigate and send me information: they didn't.

• 20th January (pm) I telephoned again to ask of shipment details and advised the shipment had not been sent and they couldn't suggest when shipment could be made. I suggested cancellation and that was immediately accepted and I was notified in writing.

• Two and a half hours later an e-mail advising "items ordered shipped" and told "too late to cancel shipment" and for me to "refuse delivery". Hmmm...

23rd January: DPD arrive with the 'cancelled order'. With the first 'pair' off the van I asked the delivery guy to "wait! I have to refuse these." I show him the e-mail from mytyres.co.uk requesting me to "kindly refuse delivery" and he loads the 'pair' of tyres back on the van; I authorise refusal and off he goes (a nice man we've met him before).

• Still no shipment/tracking advice from mytyres i.e., we're shipping 1x4 tyres, 2 x 2 tyres, or 4 x 1 tyres.

27th January: PayPal advised they're processing payment on the 31st Jan for the mytyres.co.uk order! Again mytyres had failed to make the repayment promised in Vasilica Pascutoi's 'cancellation' e-mail.

• Telephoned mytyres (Robert Bodo) to ask why repayment had not been made only to be told that payment would not be made until the tyres (my cancelled order) were back in the/a warehouse. Pointed e-mails follow with apologies from mytyres.co.uk like: "we would like to apologize for the inconvenience", "please excuse our incompetence" and "we are all human, and we do occasionally make mistakes. For that I, myself ask for your pardon", etc.

• 31st January: my bank account is debited and I raise a PayPal Resolution case. This doesn't go down well at all.

• 1st February: I escalate the PayPal resolution and attack the shipper DPD asking why they've lost their/my tyres.

• 2nd February: I'm now giving both barrels to Susan Kindor (Communications Director) at delti.com, and the shippers DPD at [email protected], and [email protected]. Shipment and/or part of shipment/shipments are now lost and an international claim ensues.

3rd February: To all and everybody: hello, I'm still out of pocket while all you guys are blaming each other trying to find my order for four tyres that you still have zero knowledge of being sent; except that I saw 2-tyres on the back of a van on the 23rd January.

• Lots of apologies, from 'them' follow. I make a not too subtle hint of legal action.

• Message from Bodo, if you cancel your PayPal resolution we will refund you within minutes. I being a trustful soul do as requested noting that once cancelled a PayPal claim cannot be resurrected.

4th/5th February: No refund. A number of e-mails sent to Bobo and all questioning honesty and legitimacy and including one 'gif' showing a 'pigs-might-fly' cartoon with no explanation given. Resurrected the PayPal dispute (yes you can...)

6th February: We've sent you the refund please check your bank account. So I did and no refund. Back into attack mode e-mailing statements of uselessness to any and all that may have had an input into this pathetic issue. Now told a refund BACS takes 3-days; but I know this already. More apologies and/or excuses from Bobo/Pascutoi/and now the shippers too.

• 7th February: Now looking forward to the Stafford Audi audi-sport.net event so dismiss any response to mytyres.co.uk. and/or others.

• 8th February: At the Stafford Audi audi-sport.net event so 'who cares about mytyres.co.uk.

• 9th February: PayPal have my refund but it's on hold. Give Bobo/Pascutoi/and the shippers another kick!

• 10th February (am): Refund in my bank account.

DO NOT consider purchasing from this utterly incompetent company that purports to be here in the UK but isn't. Just don't. I mean, you've only yourselves to blame if you do.

PS: in the meantime I ordered a set of summer use tyres (for Suzy A2) from BLACKCIRCLES and these arrived safely and were fitted within 4-days. All communications were superb and the tyres supplied had the same November 2014 date stamp - and were cheaper than mytyres.

If you need to buy on-line then Blackcircles (Peebles, Scotland) seem to be a very good choice.

I refuse to deal with them as they charge extra for highlands and Islands postage,Black circles or tyre shopper most times for me

Not wanting to disagree with you, but I can only speak as I find and I've used Mytyres.co.uk for many years now and they've always been superb, with both car and motorcycle tyres. Price, choice and delivery always first class. I'm sure that there'll always be the occasional problem with a company of this size and turnover and it's unfortunate that it has been you that's been unlucky this time.

I've no connections with the company and am not defending how they've handled your case either - just posting an alternative experience.

And yes, they are a German owned and run company too.

Cheers,

Michael

Before this particular order Skipton01 I'd have agreed with you 100% as I've never had a problem, however, this particular order went wrong almost immediately and the operators in Germany were unable to correct the issue at source; having found they had shipped after telling me they hadn't it was they that should have contacted their shipper and turned the consignment arount a the Oldbury DPD depot. They didn't, they just left it to me 'the customer' and left a hole in my bank account until they 'recovered' the tyres.

My refund was provided only after the shipper paid for loss of consignment which had nothing to do with me.

An interesting case but this company having cancelled the order themselves still took and held onto my money...

All sorted now and Suzy is fully equiped with a set of new Vredestein Wintrac Xtreams on 16inch x 7J rims with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3's on similar rims awaiting the summer sunshine.

I've used mytires before as well but without issue

Me too, but this time the order went wrong; MYTYRES cancelled and couldn't or wouldn't put it right leaving it to me, the customer. All MYTYRES needed to have done, them having cancelled my order as they "couldn't supply", was to instruct the carrier DPD to return 'em. But they didn't, couldn't, wouldn't. BLACKCIRCLES were 100% customer friendly and 100% efficient.

For remote purchases of more than £100 always pay by credit card (not debit card). You have Consumer Credit Act protection and if the retailer scores up/argues/won't/can't resolve an issue, that law is on your side and you can raise a dispute with the CC company. For reasonable disputes, they then refund whilst they investigate. Retailers normally play ball so they can keep their merchant status. Card merchants can blacklist retailers for bad behaviour.

Paypal are as yet untested when it comes to CCA legislation - credit card companies are very well tested and the law works. You could try funding Paypal via a credit card (I do) so that the CCA applies to your transaction with Paypal.

All companies get it wrong, and they got it wrong. Having said that, I've used them many times over the years, without fault.

Thing is, how they handle their mistakes is where they win or lose their reputation. Shame you had to go to all that effort and endure the stress. At least it got sorted. Must have been frustrating.

To give some perspective, Apple and M&S, both huge brands and noted for their CS. I reserved the iPhone 6 Plus a day after release, to arrive at the store to be told there was no phone for me, there never was and the website shouldn't have let me reserve one. The manager apologised and made it right. We're talking a luxury purchase here ~£700. He made it right. Win. M&S, I bought a 'bag for life' to quote a manager in the shop. A few weeks later it broke, it was a nice bag I'd used once so I asked if I could exchange it while I was shopping there, and explained the above. The manager said "we don't exchange the bags for life" as if I should have known that, and she relayed this with her colleague who knowingly confirmed parrot fashion "we don't exchange bags for life". I was then told they exchange the 10p plastic bags, but not the 'bags for life'. I could have a 10p bag if I liked. I stood back, and repeated the idiocy of the situation, in that the 'bag for life' had lasted a week or two and one use... To which the manager told me, "just this once, I'll replace it for you". Wow. Lose.

The manager tried to make me feel awkward and that she was doing me a favour, over a £1 bag. Like Mytyres, they got it wrong.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I hope you get the analogy.

Just to add, for those without credit cards (me), when making purchases on debit cards, you have protection too, chargeback or something similar it is called. A member of staff at eBay or my bank, Natwest told me about it, can't remember. It works. I bought a battery for the wife's shocking Windows laptop, after a month or two it was junk. eBay didn't want to know, but the bank refunded my money, and took up the case with eBay/PayPal or the seller. I'm not clear, it was some time ago. As a result my direct debit agreement with PayPal was stopped. So I just reinstated it. No bother.

I too had problems with delti.com /mytyres and with getting my money back. Money came back in full....eventually.....but what an utter waste of time and the reordering from another supplier while delti.com used my money!

Sure there were lots of apologies along the way and uncertainty that I would not get any money back.

BEST ADVICE IS, NOT TO GO THERE! TOO MUCH HASSLE!

It has to be said that this reflection on Mytyres and their customer service is in your opinion.

You've said in your latest reply that you've used them previously without issue, so you got unlucky. I wonder if you'll be back to slate Blackcircles when they have ordering issues too? For the vast majority of orders, I'm sure that Mytyres are great in terms of their customer service - the Trustpilot rating of 9.4 from 10 backs this up:

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.mytyres.co.uk

I'm not trying to stifle your opinion here, or that of meriafel who also seems to have had issues, but it all needs to be taken in context and as others have posted, there are ways to pay which make retrieving your money easier in the event of a problem.

Cheers,

Michael.

DESPITE being a 4-year-old thread...…

I would like to add that I ordered yesterday from a company called Giga-Tyres. I used Paypal for protection, but didn't receive any order status or reply to my email regarding a delivery date.

Their website only has a German phone no. A little suspicion sets in. Some Googling brought up the Oxford address above (the UK accountants only). I hope I don't have the same experience, but let's see...

Still very bad to have no idea when I'll receive the tyres & no UK phone number, on their website, regardless of their heavily-defended supporters above.

HOWEVER, having found this thread, I had a look on MyTyres.co.uk & they DO have a UK (and better still, freephone) number. I tried this - it is an automated only service. But I entered my Giga-tyres order no. & last 3 digits of my mobile to confirm... lo and behold I get an order status and expected delivery. 31st July so 6 days after ordering but not the end of the world for cheap tyres, just not a good option in a hurry or if you worry about things going wrong.

So you have to ask why they don't have that freephone number on the Giga-tyres site. For info it's 08081891233

Cheers, Ollie

IT GETS BETTER.

Exactly the same (style) website, and as I established above all the same underlying business...

However, I paid £39.60/tyre for 175/70/14 88T Falken Sincera SN832 Ecoruns (for my Mum's car). EXACT same tyres were £44.60 on MyTyres.co.uk, £5 more. In the 84T (non-XL) size the difference was £4.60. Not huge, as they're a cheap size, but still well over 10% more from the same business and a £20 saving for me, buying my Mum a full new set.

So yes - now MyTyres.co.uk may be bad bad bad! And, if they arrive, maybe Giga-tyres good good good?!?

Stories above hold true for many companies I've dealt with, everything is great, until there's a problem. As consumers demand ever cheaper goods something is sacrificed, sometimes quality, sometimes service.
I reckon for every tale of woe there's 50 customers have received the service they expect though most won't report this.

Nothing in this thread puts me off ordering from MyTyres.co.uk who are one of the very few sites who list a good range of winter tyres.

Distance selling always has a higher risk involved, but that is quite often why their prices are lower. Physical shop you can go to and complain. Mail order then there may be no premises, couriers involved and hoops to jump through before you are taken seriously and perhaps refunded. It is the old adage BUYER BEWARE. Like anything that can be a risk the end result may very well be worth it. Unfortunately you only find out how good (bad) a seller is when you run into problems.

BLACK CIRCLES and Camskill shopper here. Both are very good and have a prompt delivery service.

I must admit I have bought 3 sets of tyres from this company over last four years one recently I can’t speak highly enough delivered by dpd full tracking perfect I can only speak as I find ..

I've bought from both Mytyres and Camskill several times in the past few years - never had a problem with either. Know folk who use Blackcircles and say the same - bottom line is that they are large and established enough to both be good most of the time - and occasionally drop balls and someone will have a less than ideal experience. What I can say is that collectively online suppliers like the above have made it much less easy to be ripped off when you need tyres than previously - a few years back I had to spend over £120 buying a tyre for a Citigo over the counter at a local tyre place that would have cost me no more than around £50 through any of the above (partner hit a kerb, got an instant sidewall hole, parked up and got a taxi leaving me to sort it out the next day with the AA's help 15 miles from home!). Yes, my wallet still hurts....
