Mzn codes

I see a lot of threads for mzn gearboxes, but I also see alot of the family codes like MAL, MNY, MZK

Can anyone find the difference between all these codes? Are they all the same fotment and ratios or does only mzn fit the a2 tdi.
Can you fit any of that family 5 speed boxes bascially?

There's a long thread on it if you search via Google A2oc mzn, but yes I believe they all fit as all 02R boxes, mzn has stop start but obviously not relevant to the A2. JDD is also 02R but needs a bit of the casing removing for the dog mount but drive cups are the same whereas the others need swapping over from original box.
All require the Web triangle removing and spacers adding, one post stated 6.5mm but I have bought an aftermarket gearbox top mount and upon test fitting to my MZN destined for Mr Black I have found they should be 7.5mm deep but perhaps the aftermarket mounting is different to genuine?
I found removing the O/S driveshaft cup helped to remove the old box but weirdly fitting the box I found it helped to leave it in as it helps locate box by easing it past the flywheel

So the codes are different due to ratios then and mzn is best option. OK cool thanks howey

Ho howey how's the mzn, any tips on what to swap or renew? I have amf and ewq.
Do you use the mzn gear shift tower and linkages that the cables connect to?
Cheers.

Think I have partially answered this in the other active thread but here's my opinion
I have yet to use the mzn I fitted my JDD but I am eager to get the MZN in Mr Black asap!
I used the shift tower that came with the jdd, it was untouched and I saw no reason to disturb it, I didn't even have to readjust my cables but boy does the jdd feel so much better!! The cables simply switch over just unclip one and the other leave attached to the Bob weight and unbolt that with cable attached and gently lift and tie out of the way. With the mounting correctly spaced (highly recommend to use @depronman sexy spacers!!) I feel you will have no issues. Mine did have replacement cable ends that a previous owner had fitted in an attempt cure a 5th gear fault it didn't thou sadly lol!

I changed my box on my own using a twin engine beam bought from ebay for £54. This made the job very straight forward and safe so much so I may well do Mr blacks over a few evenings at home in my leisure rather than one hit at work on the ramp but will see depends if the current box lasts till next spring/summer

The MZN I have I fitted the correct drive flanges from Mr Silvers scrapped box but didn't bother changing the seals and with it in my garage with 2 litres of oil in it and no apparent leaks touch wood!
