Need advice on removing gear selector tower 1.6 FSI

Hi all

Would be grateful to receive some advice on this one.

One of our members in Greece @Evripidis really needs a selector tower for the FSI. It's not a job I particularly wanted to do but I want to help.

I've removed the top 2 bolts which I believe to be holding the selector in place and just incase also undid all bolts at the bottom of the gearbox that are in the area directly below the selector tower.

It doesn't want to shift. I'm wondering whether I've missed a hidden bolt or it's just stuck in place due to age.

Any exploded diagrams would really help.

Thanks

Steve

This page from the manual may help although does not detail how to remove it.

Try inserting some wedges under the flange. A puller may work or even if careful a slide hammer.

Thanks for the exploded diagram mate, it confirms as I thought, I've removed everything I should have and it's just stuck in place. I'll have a go with a chisel around the base and hammer, but limited on space in that area.

Hi Steve, geez. I weren't expecting this!!! I thought the idea was to put it in neutral, undo the bolts and off it came.
