Need AGCOM VCDS system for my Lupo 3L - what do I need

I'm after a VAGCOM system as owning a 3L it would appear you need to carry it around in the boot! Its a year 2000 model if that makes any difference

So please enlighten me as to what I need exactly, I'd like to able to do basic gearbox settings, clutch settings etc along with normal diagnostic stuff.

Have a laptop if need be but am a little confused on exactly what I need

Hi
A VCDS official cable is over £200 but you should not buy any cheap pirated version. They have problems and are illegal.

You get software with it that you load on your laptop.
You plug one end of the cable into your laptop and the other into the diagnostic plug near the drivers right foot.
And away you go.

Never used one on a 3l before but I am sure that there are plenty of things you can do, but it can pay for itself just in diagnostics.

They rarely appear on Ebay, however there has been a couple just recently that were up for sale at @ £225 + postage.

If wanting to buy with confidence then Gendan are the place to buy from in the UK.

It's worth it's weight in Gold, as the average scan from your local friendly dealer will be around £50, and you'll be very lucky if you get a printout of DTC's from them.

Cheers

If your car isn't a CANBUS car, you can use a generic KKL cable.
E-bay is a wash with them.
They cost about a tenner and work with VCDS-Lite (which is shareware, and therefore free).

There are many cheap diagnostic tools that can provide generic fault codes, much the same as cheap hand-held scanners, however they won't always provide the correct diagnoses, therefore aren't really worth buying if you are going to rely on the tools to troubleshoot problems.
Most won't reset fault codes or allow modification to the various controllers.

As with most tools, when you need them, you need then to be 100% reliable.

Sorry to go off topic, but what vcds mods are available for the A2 that are worth doing?

I vcds'd my A1, so know how to use it etc.

Hi,

Yes the VCDS mods for the A1 are great, and lots of them, but the A2 has much fewer control modules and most have little or no useful mods.
I was SO annoyed with Audi when I paid £100 for the "hill hold assist" on my A1, only to find that I could have switched it on for nothing with VCDS !!!!

On the A2 you have the autolocks (locking the doors when you drive off) the "anti-hijack" (where the single press of the key just unlocks the drivers door, two presses to open everything)

There are a few more, but I am not sure if there is anything really useful? I would love to hear of them.

There must also be some other options for the instruments because our Daughter's TDI doesn't display the date on the clocks, but you can still set it??? (unless it is a fault?)

Can you do a Lupo 3L/A2 1.2tdi gearbox basic setting with this? If not, it's a complete waste of money.
