New and looking!

Good to meet you all...I've been looking for a good small family car and fell across the A2, never really have given them any thought before...saw an add in autotraber and done a bit of research..I like what I read..
From what little I've read the 1.4 TDi meets my needs so which version ...SE, Sport, or 90 (I'm leaning towards the 90), any thoughts ?

Welcome. A common question. Forum search is non functioning when searching on short words like "75 or 90". Try this in google:

site:www.a2oc.net 75 or 90

90 has it's followers but can have issues. 75 can be remapped to over 100

Hello and welcome!
SE, Sport, or 90

The way this is phrased suggests a little confusion. 'SE' and 'Sport' are spec packages that determine which optional extras were fitted as standard. The TDI was available in 75bhp and 90bhp variants, both of which were available with either the SE or Sport package. So, you can have a 75 SE, 75 Sport, 90 SE and 90 Sport.

The TDI75 is unquestionably the most reliable of all the A2 engines. The TDI90 is unquestionably the fastest of the A2 engines, especially once remapped. As a general rule of thumb, remapping any A2 TDI will add 25bhp.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi Billy.
Also depends on what type of drive you prefer. The ride quality isn't the best from any A2. Being a very light car, all A2's the damping was never the best when new(very crashy). This can be sorted though with the shocks upgraded, some prefer monroe reflex others bilstein or koni FSD. The Se has a higher ride height and a higher profile tyre on it's 16" wheel which gives slightly better ride quality over a Sport. But the Sport has better seats and(with a non fading screen) DIS more info for the driver, and Arguably a better steering wheel. The choice is yours, but i would strongly recommend meeting up with a local member to discuss the A2 and maybe even have a go of one. They are very 'quirky' with an obstructive A pillar, but also quite fun to drive.
Best of luck on your search if you do decide to take the plunge into A2 ownership.

Welcome to the club. Whether you're interested in Sarge sale or not- a trip to Walthamstow doesn't look too far away from you and you'd be treated to an education in all things A2. As one of our longest serving members Sarge is also a learned authority on the car . And a super nice guy to boot.

Good luck with finding a car. You've chosen an addictive and charming wee beastie as your run around.
