After much letter writing (why they can't just ring you up I'll never know) and lost post (Aaaaaarrrgh![2]) our replacement A2 has been confirmed for order today.[23]

The spec will be exactly the same as before plus CC and Symphony radio - subject to confirmation in the next couple of days (which probably means a couple of weeks, seeing how things have gone so far)[12]

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.

Congrats glad you`ve got it sorted. any idea of waiting time been given yet?

To have the colour we want (Merlot Red) will cost an extra £1000.
To have the CC will cost £800 - not part of the £250 deal as the Merlot is a 'special' colour.
Why did Audi have to discontinue Merlot as a standard colour?

There is no haggling to be done as the insurance company won't budge. They have a contract with someone and thats that. They won't buy from anyone else.

We can't even claim the £1000 back through uninsured losses, so we've been told.

We have 3 choices,
1) Go for a standard A2 colour with CC - the cheapest and easiest option.
2) Go for Merlot (or another non-standard colour), forgetting about CC.Cost £1K
3) Go the whole hog and just have what we want - total cost of over £2K with the radio as well. A bitter pill to swallow when all we will be getting different from the original car will be CC & Symphony headunit.

Hi Rob,

Bit of a poor show really isn't it. Do you not fancy any of the other standard colours?

There is nothing to stop you claiming your uninsured losses from the other driver. If you are in a motoring organisation (AA, RAC,etc.) they will do it. You can still do it yourself via small claims court. That way you don't need a solicitor. go for it, I did and won. My case was through my motoring organisation, persistance is what is required.I am surprised that your ins. co. will not assist most do.

Nicely summed up HR, claim it from the other driver.

We are using the insurance assigned solicitors for the personal injury/uninsured losses but we have been told by them that getting this money back is very unlikely - might be worth looking into further.

As for the other standard colours, there's not a problem with them - I'd just prefer a bit of a more individual A2. Good to see Audi are giving us a lot of choice at present - Merlot Red removed, Castle Red removed and nothing to replace them.

How do they know that getting the loot back is unlikely? They can't be bothered 'cos there's nothing in it for them. If the other driver is working he's got money--yours!

Yes, you must insist on this, after all, if they can put you off pursuing this it saves them the hassle of chasing it for you. Be VERY clear that you demand them to follow this up.

Hi Rob Earl,
congrats on the new car. Hopefully everything will work itself out. Although maybe you should wait for the new A2 TDI with 90ps. Audi announced this week that it will be launched at the end of the year.New colours for the car and the interior are also supposed to be coming.and the service flap at the front will be available in the car colour.but the best news is that it will have 90 ps / TDI. It should be powerful!!!

Can't wait that long Thomas.

The decision has been made. We're going for the easy option - Ebony black with red leather. We'll have to pay for the leather obviously but the paint and CC should come in at £250.
At least we are getting something different for the money we'll be spending - not just paying for the priviledge of having the same colour again.

This is all subject to change mind you, either from the insurance being a pain in the a@#e or Kim changing her mind in the next 48 hrs.

The car is being replaced by the insurance company as it was only 7 months old and we were the first owners.

The same colour steering wheel, door inserts, carpet mat edging, gear knob and handbrake gaiter are all part of the 'controls' pack, which is a no cost option in conjunction with leather interior. We will be asking for this as well.

Rob

Glad to see things are moving. I'm very suprised at the financial side of the situation-I thought the insurance company should put you back in the car you had, and any expenses over and above this could be claimed back from the othe drivers insurance company. Damm poor show.

Absolutely agree Steve, but there comes a time when you say sod it, if we keep on fighting it, the new car won't be here before Christmans.

I'm interested to see how the insurance handles the £250 offer for CC/met paint, as this is a saving over the £475 we paid for the paint. Will the £225 difference be taken off our bill for the leather & Symphony? Or will it be double standards - we can charge you if the price has gone up but if it goes down, we pocket the difference on your behalf. Ho hum.

Absolutely right Ade.:(

But it's all ordered now:) Ebony Black, full red leather, the same as EFMAX's (without the dogs danglies stereo obviously). The only pain being delivery won't be until October.

This is nigh on a year to the day that we ordered our first A2 and that was delivered in Oct as well.[21] Spooky
