Hi everyone,

Would anyone be able to recommend where i can buy a used a2 engine. Its a y reg 1.4 se.

And a good mechanic in the london / essex area to fit it, and if you would have any ideas of the costs ?

there are a couple of A2s being broken at the moment on EBay; a dark blue, which I think is a TDI, then there's a a silver one, all audi have one..,motors in motion have one, too. There's also a "broken" AUA over on the German forum....

So, which engine? AUA or BAD? how many kms / miles is OK?

Thanks Bretti,

I thinks it is a bad engine i need, something that is going to last, but wont cost the earth, as my pockets are not that deep given the extra expense of having to fit a new engine.

I will take a look on ebay, and on the german forum.

Do you know how much it will cost ? and the cost of labour on average, just to make sure i dont get ripped off.

AUA. ok. How much are you prepared to spend? I'm a bit too European-focussed to really understand UK replacement part prices.

wait, there's a thread in the German forum. He paid €1600 for engine, including new clutch, starter, alternator and climate compressor. 2 days work to fit it.

HtH.

I have a brand new 1.4 16V engine for sale. It is for a VW Polo, so the gearbox flange does not fit the A2 gearbox, but your mechanic might be able to figure out a solution. The engine is a 101 BHP engine, so it would give you some more power.

Contact med on [email protected] if you are interested.

The price would be around 900 GBP.

Why not take the opportunity to fit a Golf 1.9 TDi lump-Stealth racing in Southam could do this for you and you could pick up engine, box, clocks and sundries for about £800-1000.

The finished car would go like a rocket but stll be frugal.

Cheers

new engine required for 1.4 se engine (aua)

Many thanks for everybodies replies.

I will find out if my engine can be rebuilt. As i am not very savvy when it comes to mechanics, is there anybody who could rebuild it for me ? and a rough idea of the cost, as i unfortumately do not have a huge budget.

for the engine that are in mainland europe, the cost to have it delivered will prob be quite expensive.

If there is anybody on the site who can offer a rebuild / fitting a new engine service, i would be keen to get a quote.

Many thanks once again.
