btw - if the underside of the front bumper has taken a whack - is the full undertray still on underneath the engine bay? Our 1.4i had a cracked lower bumper after a coming together with something and the undertray was long gone. Obviously it will be beneficial for it to be off for a little while while you replace things like the engine air filter and sort out anything else that needs to be done underneath, but according to several people here, once everything is done, noise and fuel efficiency at speed suffer if it isn't in place.

Noticed your clicking query in post #13. When turning the ignition on before engaging starter there is a clicking from that area in the cabin. Apparently it is the climate unit orienting its flaps and is normal and lasts for a short while. If you are sure it is coming from that kit in your picture sorry I can't help as I am petrol and don't recognise it, must be TDI specific.

On the bumper I would not hang around, a fussy traffic officer might deem it dangerous (sharp edges) and give you a ticket.

Yes i think your correct, undertray is likely also missing... something else to add to my list to sort out

For the undertray, obviously ask around the dismantlers in case there is a half decent one ; otherwise anecdotally they're pretty expensive new in the UK - I got ours new from Germany from https://www.online-teile.com/audi-ersatzteile/ for around 50 euros including delivery.

the last letter F is for the diesel version with the additional sound insulation pad, E as the suffix is for the petrol engine without the extra padding and is 12 Euros cheaper from memory.
