A2OC Donor
Hi there, I've just acquired an A2 from a friend for the bargain price of £560 (the same as WBAC offered him)

It looks a bit used but I love it already, currently on my first full tank of fuel and already covered 330 miles and not in the red yet.
It's a 75bhp Diesel that's done 120k miles.
Interior needs a clean as it has the blue seats but I have a rug doctor to play with this weekend :)

Looking forward to sorting a few things out, need a way to stream bluetooth and preferably handle calls (current has the single din Syphony) and I'd like to sort out the faded appearance of the headlight plastic.

It needs an MOT in a month so I'll wait until that's over before spending too much money on it. Car will be my commuter as I do 80 miles a day and my other cars aren't super economical.

The forum has already proved super useful as I swapped the key fob internals into a new case and thought I'd broken it until I read about re-pairing on here :)

you missed a 'connects 2' unit which would have sorted your BT / calls needs, it sold today for £10

The headlight can be sorted with a little work, wet sand then with 400 grit wet and dry, moving up to 800 grit
then apply a few coates of 2k car lacquer, you can get this in a rattle can
Remove headlight from the car its easy and makes the job far easier

interior cleaning is much easier if you remove the seats, fronts are only 4 bolts per side and rears just unclip

cheers,
Paul

A warm welcome Nolan.
Be prepared to hooked on these little German gems.
Like most cars of this vintage there will be stuff to sort out but using the forum will prove invaluable and we are a friendly bunch.

Welcome. If you have not done so already I recommend you stump up £2 to get full access, including Marketplace. This will allow you to spend endless amounts of money on bargains from fellow members!

Thanks, I just paid as I was wondering where the classifieds were.

I just filled up after a week of commuting and I did 352 miles using 26.79 litres of fuel so 59.7 mpg, what have car makers been doing for the last20 years? :)

That's about double the MPG of my T6 van.

Good point about taking the seats out to clean, was already going to get the rears out assuming the mechanism is ok but will get the fronts out as well.

Disconnect the battery before taking front seats out and be aware that the air bag warning light will be on and will have to be turned off with a fault code reader such as VCDS.

I have to swap the full set of seats on one of my a2s (for a leather set ) and I had not realised I had to disconnect the battery for this are you sure ?..

Disconnect the battery, reconnect once new seats fitted. Otherwise the Airbag system senses the high resistance (seat not connected) and triggers a warning light.

Thanks for pointing that out, I've already found the battery as I put it on a conditioner for a few nights. It's both easy to get to and nice and clean back there :)

Just to add when removing the front seats you will need a spline socket to undo the bolts, not torx which might ruin them. Sorry can't remember the size but you will find it if you search on here.

Welcome.

Andy

Edit. Tom to the rescue on size here. I was wrong, not spline but XZN.
