New Mod on the Way - Think "I Robot"

I'll pop some badge details at the bottom.

below are the pictures of the standard badge (sprayed black) next to the old ovals that I didn't use, but are the same dimensions as the new ones. Plus the old one comes apart easily so you can see how it's set out.

This is the final fitted version..

Looks good! With have a completely smooth front flap it means that you can have a choice of front badge sizes. My badge is larger than the A2 badge. I like the idea of the rings themselves illuminating. I did have that type on the rear but the quality was appalling and the "chrome" finish deteriorated, too! It wasn't there long! I noticed this on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-LED...V2b&brand=Audi&_trksid=p2047675.c101195.m1851 Choose you colour, Eh!
I've got a spare smooth grill. I might go your way because I DO have the time! I'd have the flap body coloured, though ...... EVERY A2 is black!

Maybe someone could use a laser cutter or CNC router to produce some acrylic ‘rings of power’ shapes which could be hazed on the back and lit from behind.

Then you could cut out the matching void shape from a fascia panel (along with the mounting points etc for the original rings) and slide the module into its place. Some epoxy or sealant-adhesive and tada! A lit shape, flush with the panel and all the electric weather sealed.

Some pre-fused length of wire and switch in the package and there’s a postal service kit with the removed ‘plain’ panel sent back for modification for the next customer.

Interesting, that idea. I had far more work to do because I also had to install the LED festoon bulbs. I'm wondering what the flap is going to look like if the raised portion is just taken down to achieve a flush finish? From what I remember, cavities appear. It IS more involved and requires fibreglass matting and filler. Anyway, let's see .....
