New owner from Newton Aycliffe,Co.Durham

Looked at that side and the spring looks new?!shiny black paint on there.
That’s good news then,
Possibly sticky top mount bearing after being stood maybe try lock to lock on the steering & see if it does it , mine does it after heavy rainfall etc.
Check battery age if Varta there should be a date stamp on the terminals
(Mine was 17 years old when it failed)
Been fine since replacement .

HI Graham, just a quick update.Got some road tax and car JUST started yesterday so took it for a 15-20min run and everything seemed fine,so i'm really confused. As you said, maybe it just needs using?I actually really want to but am fearful of the battery/charging letting me down one snowy morning after nightshift. Thanks again for clearing the warning light, which has not come back on,yet, lol.

Hi Neale
Pleased to hear it's running a bit better. The engine sounded in good order and starting despite turning over really slowly bodes well.
The initial fault code suggested an egr fault, fingers crossed it was only the car getting a long run out after standing for an extended period.
I suspect the battery may well be the original one. If so, it's really a miracle it still holds any charge. Tayna batteries do a Varta with 5 year warranty for around £80 which is bit cheaper than Eurocarparts.
There always a few quid to spend-and a bit of tinkering to do when you get a new old car so I wouldn't get disheartened by this one.
Cheers

Not a cheap option but one of the new mini power pack jump starters would be a good standby

Hi Neale
Pleased to have been of some help!
The difference with a freshly charged battery was reassuringly immediate. Which battery did you go for?
Hopefully catch for a beer when the world returns to normal.
Cheers

Update on ND03WNN "Andy".Thanks to Graham(Ozzie)we found my battery was not holding charge, which was a huge relief not to have to start adding extra earth cables etc.Purchased a suitable new battery and just been for a good run out in the snow to check it all out.Everything fine mechanically and all the electrics are good.Looking forward to driving it trouble free for some time, fingers crossed. Thanks again to everyone that offered advice and pics etc,I'm so glad I joined this Club.cheers..Neale.
