New owner, some problems

Hello,

I bought an A2 tdi SE recently and have found a few problems. Well I think they are problems anyway.

Firstly the air con seems to rumble for a while after it's switched off, I presume this is a faulty fan or something. Also, it only seems to blow cold when the car is moving, is this normal?

Secondly I get a clunking type of noise when braking at slow speeds, it sounds like it comes from the drivers side wheel area. Also, I get the ABS warning light coming on intermittently.

The car is covered under the black horse warranty as I haven't had it very long, does anyone have any experience of this company? The audi garage will only deal with their own warranty so I'm going to take it to a place in Jarrow called prestige german autos as I've heard good things about them.

Lastly, hello everyone and despite the problems I've found I'm still happy to be an A2 owner (the mpg I'm getting is incredible). This site seems to be great from what I've read so far, very useful info all over the place.

Thanks,

Al

The aircon doesn't sound normal. It should be cold whether you're moving or not. It's something you need to get checked out. I had the same problem on my allroad. It was ok when stopped and great when moving. Not good for the Dublin traffic. I had it checked by the dealer and it turned out to be a dodgy secondary fan which needed to be replaced. Cost me £400 in Belfast, but it's great now.

May not be that serious on your car. Could be something as simple as a thermostat or it may need to be re-gased, but you should get it checked by a dealer or aircon specialist.

The clunking when breaking could be lots of things breaking or suspension related. Best to get that looked at too. It could be causing the ABS light. A dealer could connect it to a VAG-COM (diagnostic computer) and see what's wrong. The specialist you mention below probably has one.
