Have a look at this (Dutch) site. Especially click on the 'foto-show' link below the small pictures on the right.

Do I still like it?
Somehow, I don't. The lines are wrong. It's a small step from the prototype, but somehow it's wrong. And I don't like Johann's no longer photoshopped doorhandles either.

Too bad. But that means that an A2v2 still has a purpose for me! Let us see that, if ever!

(2003 Silver 1.4 Tdi Exclusive(SE), black interior, sport seats, heated mirrors, JVC KD-SH909RB cd-receiver, Infinity Kappa 63.1 + Vifa on-dash tweeters, 12" Subwoofer on 300w Amp) and still not chiptuned by Abt, #$%$&!

What has happened to it the back end looks like a chyrsler PT cruiser AKA the Adams family run-about!!!.

The side profile has lost something, somewhere in the rear three quater, looks a lot like the daewoo you can buy for a £1.

The front however has stayed the same with a hint of Z4 to the lights and lower bumper.

my 2$`s worth

This is the link to the UK SEAT owners club site.

I still like the Altea, but slightly less than the prototype. Interior looks nice, and the thought of a 150bhp diesel with DSG box sounds great.

And I know what you mean by the side profile-there is a certain Kia Rio (estate-hatback thingy) look to it.

Maybe different colours would help-why do Seat insist on the majority of their press cars being flash red!

Agree - they have got the back end wrong. Looking at the pics from Steve's link showing the proto v production car, I can only imagine that either production, safety or the dreaded 'common parts bin' issues stopped SEAT from making it look more like the proto. The prototype had real presence, and I think such a car would have developed SEAT's reputation very positively. Now I'm still not sold on the new BMW look (Z4 excluded), however at least BMW are trying to take design to the next step and give us something interesting to look at on the roads.
Just looking at it again as I write this, I'm going to sound really old now, aren't new cars starting to look the same (hehe) - I mean everytime I look at the Altea, I see a different car in it; Honda Civic (side profile), Toyota Corolla Verso-thingy (Rear Quarter) - you have to squint for that one, Kia Rio (I agree).

I suppose I am expecting too much after see the all new Golf!!!!! WOW - what a design!!! :)

I say we should let Johann design the next VW Group car - his post-it note doodles had style.

@Steve: I agree, Mr. Toyota. Let's hope that this design lasts longer than 2 years ;)

@Kaine&Golf V: that's irony, right?! The only thing that I like about the Golf V, in real life and regular outfittings, are the side indicator lights integrated with the mirrors. Period.

swiv-this is true-I'm worried the new interior and exterior design will appear on a corolla near me soon! Wouldn't mind chopping in my corolla for the verso.

Toyota policy is for minor face lifts each year, major face lifts every two years. Sometimes the major facelifts only effect interior and engines, however recently they have been replacing them completely. In Japan a new car is expected every two years, therefore by default we get it 6 months to a year later.

Regarding the Golf, yes - thats was irony. I really dont like the new Golf at all, however I'm sure that it will be a huge success as normal for them.

Thanks Kaine! hehehe... but I'm not car designer...

But back to the Altea... somehow I do like it... the rear is a bit weird... too much metal and too small rear lights... but I think it will grow on your eyes with time... I do like the front and even more so like the idea of a 150bhp DSG version!!! Imagine how boring the A3 will be soon... sooo many of them around and the new one looks too much like old one... But an Altea in the right colour may be a very nice Q-car... YUM!
