Hi folks

Me and my girlfriend just purchased an A2 and thought i would join up and say hello on the owners club,

After reading around on this forum i have a feeling modded A2's arent the majority's choice and so i may get some stick but here goes ?

All credit at the mo has to go to the previous owners but we love it !!!

What do you think ?

Hi ELLIS, welcome to the A2oc
The car looks great but (and I know you won't want to hear this) the rims look way too wide for the tyres and the car. The rears in particular stick out well past the arches which is probably illegal.
These are comments from the oldest member of the club - and when I was your age I would not have given a stuff what some old fogey thought of my dream machine - so enjoy

Cheers Spike

No worries all comments welcome !!! wheels are slightly wide (10 inches wide on the rear !!!:eek:) but unfortunately will be going on my audi cabbriolet soon ! not illegal though as the tyre tread is still under the arches (just !!) hense the stretch on them !! still i love the looks you get driving it !!

Welcome to A2OC Ellis and to the A2 ownership experience!

That is one very 'clean' looking example you have got yourselves there and the shine is awesome - there must have been some serious elbow grease gone into establishing that mirrored finish!! ;)

As for modding, I am all in favour of personalising a car, (been there with many cars in the past and I have currently modified my own A2). We are all individuals and have the right to express that individuality - so you won't hear me being critical of someone's personal tastes.

As per Spikes comments though, you might want to be a bit wary of plod with those rears projecting beyond the body of the car though...

Nice to see you have the 'opensky system' - do a search for threads on how to keep it lubricated and hopefully fault free.

Happy motoring!

Darren

Edit - You replied to Spike on the wheels whilst I posted - please ignore my comments.

Look great though I'm surprised you aint been pulled for the alloys as I had this chat with a co-worker of mine a couple of weeks ago and he stated that neither that wheels nor the tyres should protrude from the arches, and he's an ex traffic police inspector.
Does look very nice though!!.

HI Ellis
Thats one awesome A2 You have there you will find a few
tricked up cars on here so dont think people are not interested
on A20C ...
I Love the wheels but they just dont fit the A2 and they need
seriously wider tyres on them i would be worried of the tyre coming
of the rim , if they where mine i would park 3 ft away from the curb
just to make sure i did'nt curb them LOL !!!!

Welcome to the A2OC ....:D

Thanks for the comments really dont mind what any one says but do like to see what people think ! as you say each to there own where cars are concerned, will be replaceing the wheels soon but only to put them on my cabby !!!lol as i love them !:p stretched tyres maybe new to some people on here but ive been in to v dub scene for a while and a lot of people run cars with stretched tyres and wide rims which look good to me ? each to there own ? thinking of putting some TT comp wheels on ?

I think the A2 looks great in red and is that OpenSky you have there too? TT Comp wheels would look great me thinks!!

iv'e seen that style of wider wheel than tyre combination a lot of golfs/polos recently, is it a new trend?
love red A2's by the way.

Nice looking motor fella, the previous owner? has obviously spent some serious money on the Meguiars polish, the finish looks really good, does it look so good close up? I once had an E36 3 series in titan red which looked immense in photos but it was a different case in the flesh.
Love the rims on your motor too, the tread may be under the arches but a bored traffic cop would definitely pull you and issue with a vehicle defect notice.

I personally like the euro style stretched tyre look but I think that your A would look mint with the TT alloys.
