I purchased a lovely but neglected A2, 2002 1.4 petrol. Abused interior brought back to life with a full professional valet. I need assistance with sourcing some unusual parts. The fuse board lid this part is no longer available, and the spare wheel bolt that seems to screw in and keep spare wheel in place in the sub boot. The door of the glove compartment is broken as well. These are the first of many parts I would need assistance with. Any help would be appreciated

For spares contact @A2Steve. He has lots of parts. Most Fuse Box Doors will have broken lugs, so contact @depronman who supplies unbreakable replacements to glue on.

Welcome and good luck with your new car, they should have a health warning on them because they become very addictive.
Lots of useful advice available on here. ?

^^^ What he said ^^^ Click on your username in the menu bar and select Account Upgrades, the one-off £2 Market access fee is payable through PayPal. And welcome from me too, well done on your first rescue ... I say first, because like Jellybean says, they're addictive - you have been warned :D

Firstly - I agree totally with all of the above comments - a) welcome, b) @A2Steve & @depronman are excellent sources of recovered & newly made or refurbished parts, c) membership upgrade to access the 2nd-hand market here with many other excellent sources of supplies. What other info do you need? Obviously the usual things that wear need to be done based on age & mileage - belts, fluids & filters, a surprising number of cars *still* have the original VARTA battery with an 8z0 code on it as many folk here have commented - front door check straps, strut bearings, ARB bushes, drop links, shocks etc., for AUA engines it is worthwhile looking at cleaning the throttle body / EGR / oil trap, spark plugs, leads, coil pack and eventually injectors (our AUA ran intermittently like a bag of nails for a year until all of those had been done one by one, now it is a sewing machine with a smooth idle and surprisingly strong top end despite 186,000+ miles). Then you start thinking about upgrades - proper heated mirrors being the obvious place to start if where you stay is cold / wet in winter, then cosmetically better soft-touch parts, then better seats or desirable electronic gadgets installed by Tom C (@timmus). As commented above - I bought one in Q3 2018 to fulfil a need (economical commuting - fuel cost differences with my previous daily commuter on the elapsed mileage since have just recently paid the purchase price of that A2) and now have three, all of which I have worked on in some way and / or am restoring. My story isn't unusual! Best of luck with yours!

Hello, and welcome to A2OC.

Thanks for the recommendation, Robin.

I've upgraded hundreds and hundreds of A2s all across Europe.
I can retrofit all the factory optional extras (apart from the sunroof and climate control) and much more besides. Cruise control, instrument cluster upgrades, multifunction steering wheels, Bose premium sound system, Bluetooth integration, rear electric windows, factory parking sensors, etc, etc. You get the idea!

My philosophy is that repairs always come before upgrades, but you know where to find me if/as/when you're ready.

Cheers,

Tom

Thx for the reply. I used to to be a vw petrol head in my mis spent youth. Grew up, was told by wifey to get married had kids usual story. Drove a stunning A6 for the last four years. Had to clear finance to purchase a dream size property alone in the country side. Every penny counts! (Banks). Picked up this run down A2 just to last six months. Fallen in love with it now after two months. It wont be going anywhere for the medium term. Petrol head once more
