No boot light

Why didn't Audi fit an interior light into the boot space? The light above the rear seats isn't bright enough.
Is this a case of penny-pinching (or Euro-pinching) gone mad?

Which model A2 have you got Mark because the SE and Sport do have a light in the boot. It's on the left near the warning triangle/first aid kit.

Maybe the switch in your boot at the lock has gone. Lots of guys on here have lost the light in the boot due to this switch failing... If you unlock the boot only from the keyfob and the alarms goes off after a while, or the indicators don't flash when you shut the boot again the switch has gone.

It's a 2001 1.4 tdi SE.
Pitch black at the moment but I went outside and fumbled around; couldn't see any sign of a light...

Found the light!
Bulb might have blown - how do I get the plastic lens off/out?
Does it just pling out with a screwdriver?

NO!!!!! Read my post above and test that BEFORE you try and replace bulbs!!!! It is a known problem for the switch to go. Chances are 90% the bulb is fine...

Agree...my switch went after only a year or so and was replaced under warranty.

It was the bulb after all.
So much for sticky switches but thanks for advice.

Mark, glad you got it sorted. I haven't had cause to look myself but for future reference, did you just pry out the plastic lens.

Yes - verrrrrrry carefully. The whole assembly comes out - plastic lens, bulb and bulb holder. You unclip the lens and can get to the bulb. Very fiddly!
