No new Borgwarner TDI90 turbo's in the Country???

I've looked at the 3PD site and investigated using 4 pot turbo's but I don't think its as easy as some suggest. I certainly haven't found any clear explanation of what I would need. Maybe I just can't use FB, I'm not a fan. For example the GT1749V from a mark4 golf TDI130: Whilst the manifold would fit on the engine and downpipe, the EGR is in completely the wrong position and orientation and could foul the oil feed pipe, the intake air tube and boost pipe would not fit. I'm not suggesting these problems can't be overcome, but I can't find anywhere that tells me what other adaptions I might need to succeed. Also not sure if it would need mapping.

Hi Trevor, I’m not suggesting using a four pot turbo, sorry if I wasn’t clear. It’s more about modifying and exhaust manifold to take a standard clamp on turbo. Their pdf covers everything you need. Any different turbo will need mapping

I think the easiest way to do this would be to get hold of a 1.2TDI manifold. This is obviously a three pot, receives a "clamp on" or "bolt on" turbo and has the EGR connection in the right place but doesn't solve the other connection issues. I've seen a 3PD pdf referring to converting an AMF turbo'd engine to an ATL,ie changing from fixed vane to variable vane, but Not seen anything converting ATL turbo to something else, maybe a GT1749V which is from a 130TDI. If you have seen such a beast could you send me a link.

Thanks

Trevor

Hi Trevor, whether you are converting an AMF or changing the turbo on an ATL the procedure is the same other than the connections and map in place for the VVT on the ATL
