No power steering

Hi all, Is there anyone local to Telford who has vcds. Its a 03 1.4 petrol. power steering stopped there are no leaks, plenty of power steering fluid. The fuse is good, battery is good so I'm thinking the pumps packed in. I have done what I can as I only have a basic scan tool to switch off engine light for when the coil packs play up..
Any help appreciated thanks. Mark..

Try unplugging the aircon pressure sensor - it is behind the bumper front edge plugged into the a/c heat exchanger on the passenger side (right hand drive) of the car. If this is playing up it can knock out the power steering controller (they are on the same CANBUS circuit).

If the fuse 38 that powers the steering controller (not the huge one in the passenger side floor that powers the pump) has gone, this also stops the emergency red triangle button flashing in the dashboard centre as well as impacting on a large number of other systems - in my case this was blowing continuously secondary to a major short in the a/c pressure sensor (which was disintegrating) - and in doing so wiping out the power steering (and oil level sensor etc.). Disconnecting the sensor immediately allowed fuse 38 to be replaced without blowing, in doing so restoring power steering immediately (although I now don't have a/c as the sensor remains are corroded immovably onto the heat exchanger - that's this year's project).

Mario from MV Engineering Telford. He Came out with laptop. Did checks then removed bumper so he could test the pump. Pump was dead..hes a qualified vehicle mechanic/electrician with over 30 years experience with VW and Audi..I will get a used one off of eBay, just to get me going then buy a new one as they are not cheap new...
while he was here he also went over my old VW T4, And told me that the ticking coming from the engine is just the exhaust manifold gasket which has blown. Cheers for replying...
