I have a loud noise similar to the standard start up but takes longer to go away and has been getting worse over time, up to 30-40 seconds now. The engine is 1.6fsi BAD with 156k-ish. A bit of general internet reading suggests this could be cam chain tensioner/chain.
Anyone had this happen and done this repair? Is it a big job, what specialist tools do I need for locking the timing in place? I'm used to doing my own work on vehicles including rebuilding engines (mostly bike) but just to get an idea of how long a job it is. Anything else I should be looking into as the cause?
Also, is there anywhere that sells a repair kit for the cam chain and tensioner within the UK/EU, if this is what is needed, as I can only find US sites that sell a kit and not for the BAD engine code?
Thanks for any help.
