North Yorkshire (Spike Memorial) Social 7th and 8th September

A year before he very sadly passed away, A2OC stalwart Graham (aka Spike), suggested a weekend social in the Yorkshire Dales. A wonderful time was had by all and as the next year coincided with Spike's funeral, we decided to arrange a social around the same time each year to celebrate and remember our wonderful friend.

This year it will be held over the weekend of 7th and 8th September. Full details will be available shortly, but the weekend will involve scenic drives, pub meals and visiting one or more sites of interest in the area.

The campsite has sadly closed now, however if anyone is coming along and plans to stay over, there are a number of places to stay including the Rokeby Inn The Holiday Inn Scotch Corner and The Fox Hall Inn

This is a relaxed friendly meet up where everyone is welcome to join us for all or part of the weekend. if you would like to come along please register your interest above

We are not going to be able to come to this one as we're at the Goodwood Revival for the weekend.

Yes, if you want to stay over you'll need to book somewhere. It's a bit expensive round Scotch Corner, but the Rokeby is the least unreasonable option price-wise. Last time we did a whole weekend in North Yorkshire I ended up staying 20 miles North in Darlington because it was about half the price, but that was without breakfast - although the excellent Mainsgill Farm Shop (with the camels) right by the A66 came to the rescue there

Hi everyone, just over week before we head to North Yorkshire to meet up and remember our lovely friend Spike.

The general plan for the weekend is as follows and you are welcome to join us for as much or as little as you can.

Saturday morning
10.30 am - meet for coffee and cake at Mainsgill Farm Shop on the A66 - Post code DL11 7PN

12.30 onwards, meet at Dalton & Gayles Village Hall, Richmond, DL11 7HS

1pm - Leave Dalton Village Hall for a drive around the Teesdale Hills

7pm - Table booked at the Shoulder of Mutton , Kirby Hill, DL11 7JH We will need to finalise numbers for the meal, so if you would like to join us for this, please edit your RSVP to indicate meal or no meal on Saturday night in the notes section

Sunday

10.30 am onwards - meet at Dalton Village Hall

11.00 am - Leave Dalton Village Hall for a drive around the Yorkshire Dales

12 noon (ish) - Lunch at the CB Inn Again, we will need to finalise numbers for this, so if you would like to join us for this, please edit your RSVP to indicate meal or no meal on Sunday in the notes section

Thanks for the heads up unfortunately I'm only going to be able to make it on the Saturday due to not being able to find anyone to babysit Sonic on the Saturday night I'll probably head back up the road when you guys head for the meal so I get back at a half decent time.
