I also have this fault come up on the mrs Fsi but no engine light and seems to drive as normal.
Whats the updated price on these sensors?
Anyone?

Did mine on Wednesday evening. I couldn't find this thread so I had to make it up. The job took a couple of hours but that included an oil change too.

You have to get the car quite high in the air so you can crawl under the floor pan.

The sensor is quite tight in the exhaust pipe.

I would recommend fitting the sensor before routing the cable because you want to avoid twisting the cable when you screw the sensor into it's housing.

I had a permanent engine management light on that I was able to clear with VCDS but it would come back within a few hundred miles.

The engine appears to be a bit more responsive. I'm hoping mpg will improve a bit too.

month ago was £180 from lambda power.
and i change it myself as garage asked for 450

Seeing as everyone says how good Stoke Audi is, I rang them and ordered one: £186 posted. I am relaxed about drop links and ball joints/brake pads etc,. but there's no way I would go pattern on this, especially given the engine's sensitivity to sensor signals...

Hi Simon, when you take your old sensor out could you take note of the numbers stamped on side & let me know? I a looking into whether other sensors are compatible. Thanks.

Hi TCH - I have just received the new bit, so before I put it on, here is what is written on the metal part of the sensor (from top to bottom):

NTK Japan

VW Audi 8Z0 906 261

NOX16

Hi Simon, thanks for the information. I will check around & see if anything else is compatible at a cheaper price. Our car only has had one fault code pending for Nox sensor being out of range but randomly comes up with other codes that turn on engine warning light - this week it was a camshaft sensor fault, fitted new one but fault code still coming up occasionally. At present I am reluctant to buy new Nox sensor. It is a pain, after 11 years with the car having no engine emission or warning light problems it has started playing up. Regards TCH.

Did anyone find the NTK or Bosch numbers ?
Just been looking at Bosch's website.

Following my nose I came up with part number 0 258 007 355 which is claimed to be compatible with our FSIs but I noticed it says 5 wires but apparently ours are 6 wires. This last bit of information, worth reading the next 20 something posts, came from here...

Did anyone find the NTK or Bosch numbers ?

(NGK95923) - NZA04-V

Original part is NGK/NTK. They are OEM for bosch. Japanese got there first.

You have to drop the exhaust a bit and the heatshield behind it to fish it through. Just bend the heatshield slightly and then bend it back to normal. Be careful not to scrape the insulation off the wires on the sharp edge of the heatshield.

Thank you!
A snippet from the NTK application guide below for those numbers.

I managed to pick up one off ebay for 60 quid some years back. Nox and Lambda + exhaust temp pack in after 100k miles or so. Even if errors don't come up.

I recently got a working Nox sensor from A2Steve, who saved my bacon. I found that it was useful to tie a bit of string to the connector end (in the passenger footwell) before feeding the cable through the hole in the floor. The string can then be untied from the old connector, tied to the replacement connector, and pulled back up into the footwell so that the cable follows exactly the same path as before.

Great thread to come across as I'm now in need of a working Nox sensor for our car.

I wonder if a source of new ones has been found by the experts on the forum? Jan 2008 when this thread started and £122.96 for a new Nox sensor seams like yesterday to me, if only they were still available for that reasonable price since they're only the size of a spark plug with wiring..........

Anyone got any pics on this process or a video? Is it the same regardless of the 1.6FSI application e.g mark 5 golf?

Pretty straightforward if my memory serves me right.

Undo connector and grommet from inside the car. Undo exhaust pipe from cat converter and lower, hangers etc. Rather than removing the heatshield make a long-enough slit on it just enough to slide the harness through.

Pro tip: If you leve the wiring in the grommet and lower the exhaust pipe, the slit on the heathshield with be performed on its own in situ.
