Hi,

My son has had new shocks fitted on the front.
The mechanic said there is a slight leak of oil from a bit of plastic on the back of the engine.
Can only be seen from the bottom.
Has this happen to anyone else.

Thanks for you thoughts.

Tom

That sounds like the oil seperator, not a cheap bit, but was sold by TPS. I fitted one about a year ago to mine. Done by Gary at B&F Autos in West Hounslow. Also you might find that you need the pipes for it as well. This is in fact a service part, though I'm sure it's likely to have been forgotten over the years as being a bit too much of a Phaff!

Might be Oil Separator but I'm not sure, I've had fitted a new oil separator to my 1.4 petrol last week, check my posts with pictures if interested.
If you can, drive the car up on a ramp, remove undertray, and with a flashlight check for that leak and post picture of it. Also check if you're losing oil and see if there's smoke when the car starts.

I had to change the whole box as it looked like this and cleaned the hoses too, caused plenty of issues
i changed out just the o-rings on my fsi breather box for £7, it stopped the oil and an air leak fault in one go.
it will be 17 and 18, part no N 90617501
