Oil leak

So been under the car doing some rust prevention work and noticed a slight weep that's coming down at the point on the pic. No constant dripping as such but I'm guessing given the under tray has a fair covering that it's been going for a while.

When my oil chain was done I was told the engine gasket seal on the other side of the engine from the chain was leaking a little...I'm guessing hopefully this is what I'm seeing here?

could be the fuel pump? i've got a similar leak to yours, now pinged it to the fuel pump weeping oil, notice it while changing my clutch and flywheel,

AFAIK gearbox needs to come out! That's why nobody bothers. A £10 part changing costing £300 labour not worth it

Incorrect. The seals can be changed with the gearbox in place but you will need special tools. What's the point of removing the gearbox, unless you want to change that as well?

VW list about five different tools (puller, drift, slide hammer etc). I can give you the numbers but having the job done by someone with the tools would probably be cheaper unless you can improvise.

Yup I'm going to check if the mechanic has the tools before I ask him to do it. Not planning to tackle this one myself

The seal could also be 084 409 189B, depends on your gearbox.
