Okay I think I'm starting to get a bit paranoid

I know of the Audi cow sound, however I have another sound issue, which might not be an issue because it's supposed to be that way and I'm just stupid :) Anyway, it's sort of a "clucking" sound when shifting gears and sometimes accelerating as well, from somewhere under the car. Maybe it's just something mechanical happening that I don't understand X-)

Ah, the "clara cluck" syndrome. Very usual on A2's-by law, all German cars must leave the factory with a chicken under the floorpan......

Serioulsy, that's a new one. Gear linkage maybe?. What model A2 you got again Puppes? And what year?

LOL, gear linkage sounds plausible though, it's a 2001 1.4 SE

The reason I ask the age is I know some older A2 (sounds daft-older when it's only a 2000/2001) had problems with drive shafts casusing noises when you were on/off the throttle (i.e. chaging gear etc).

I never suffered this in my A2's as they were 2002 models which appeared to have the problem solved.

I'm sure those on the forum who suffered the driveshaft problem can comment?

Okay, thank you guys, what would I do without you? I've posted so many problems in a few days, I'm starting to think I might need my own forum: "Puppes's newly discovered problems" :) Seriously though, maybe a Problems/Solutions page or folder in this forum would be a good idea?

Not a bad idea. It shows above-I could remember it's been covered, but not when and by whom. I know Stuart archives most stuff to keep the boards running smoothly, but if we could just keep the problem and solution one.

Stuart?.

Sounds good to me also.

Don't know if its the same 'clucking' but nearly every time I change gear, there is a 'cluck' from behind the passenger foot well.
If I 'rock' the clutch and accelerator pedals together, the 'cluck' often, (but not always occurs)

Hoping to track the exact source this weekend

If it is driveshaft then driving in low gear 1st or 2nd, appllying and removing power - power on power off will produce a 'knock'. If this is the case your dealer will bond the drivesahaft into the hub carrier and the noise will dematerialise

[24]Early models ie 2001 ones had this problem.
