OMG. one thing after another. Climate control this time. Arrrrgggghh.

Well I have now replaced those both fuses. No result. I have plugged in my laptop with vcds. I cant connect to central convenience.
When the climate panel turns black, both buttons for the windows also turns black which means that I cannot manouver them up and down. Also the red led starts to blink which indicates that the car is locked and the alarm is on but it is not. In this moment I am not able to lock the car.
I start to think that it is something wrong with the central convenience module. When I opened up the compartment where the ccm are located I hear some strange click from it. Check out the video and listen.

I must admit when I asked the question I forgot that you are in Sweden and I do not remember ever seeing the M edition referenced which makes me think it was not used in the UK, (could be easily wrong). Sorry I know nothing of the reliability of the M edition, if it was Q that's another matter (unreliable), AF good etc. You really need Tom( Timmus) but unfortunately he is out of action convalescing from a problem, (which is why I did not include the @).

Climate units have a reputation for reliability so I am tend to agree, looking like a CCCU fault.

Thanks for your answer. Is that really country specific? Well I have now ordered a used one. I guess that I will receive it during next week. I will update this post once I have tested the new one.

Hi. Did you sort out this issue? I seems to have the same problem. I can tell you that it is not related to high temperature. It is a couple degrees below zero here right now. My climate control flicks on and off. When it is off it gets really cold in the car. The only thing that works when it is off is the seat heating.
I also had issues with central locking and the fuel flap. Did you have the same?

Regards

Apologies for the slow reply. Yes I did and still do. I assume this is a CCCU issue.

I thought I had sorted my climate control issues by removing the fan, cleaning it of all the crud on it, oiling the motor with sewing machine oil, then putting it back in.
No climate control cut outs, no issues with the fan running, fan sounded better than it ever had, actually quieter too. Admittedly I only drove the car very sparingly from Feb to November. Then I let the car sit for 6 months over quite a nasty Scottish winter, November 2019 to April 2020. Car was full of mildew, the battery dead (obviously) rear brakes seized, etc. etc.

I replaced and refurbished the back brakes, got new tyres, put new drop links on the car, charged up the battery and car started first time.
The climate control does not cut out anymore but the fan does make a horrible noise then winds to a stop. Like an old propeller plane winding down.

So I am in need of a new Interior fan. Anyone know where I can get one please?

I've got one but it might not solve the problem. It failed last year, so I arranged for a new one to be fitted (about £200 if I recall correctly) but on the way to the garage it started working again fine. Send me a PM if you want it, it's just taking space up in the garage.

Many thanks for the offer.

Eureka!

I took the fan apart again and found the problem. When I had put the motor back into the plastic housing there were four rubber grommets which hold it in place. I did not push them in far enough to wedge themselves into the locking positions. So the fan was easing out of its position and hitting the plastic shroud it was protected in.

After pushing the rubber grommets in further and then putting the fan back in, bingo. No rubbing or noise. Phew.

Everything has been reassembled and is now working.

Now I just have to clean the car and give it some fuel.

It is worth sliding a thin flat blade screwdriver in the end of the slots to prise the end of the wedge fully into position. While there lubricate the bearings.

Why not swap the fan unit for a (working) used one?(or Trevor’s kind offer) If that fails after a while then it is not the fan that is the issue (it could be the fan controller unit that is failing, unlikely but worth eliminating)

You can plug in the replacement fan to try it out before fitting.
It should not cost that much so worth a try?

I did exactly that to solve a failing fan recently and all sorted.
